1. Anthropologists Develop New Approach To Explain Religious Behavior

While religious belief may not be necessary to promote social relations, that is not the realm of anthropologists to decide. They study how things are, not how things should be.
A study like this is unsurprising, and frankly, nothing really new either, although it is interesting. Pascal Boyer's "Religion Explained" is also an excellent anthropological look at the origins of religious beliefs.

"Should a doctor be forced to perform a female circumcision for a patient that desires it?"
The key words here are for "a patient that desires it". If the patient is fully informed about the health risks and 100% consenting and it's their own decision to do it than yes, the doctor should perform it.

Browsing through the Devil's Delusion on Amazon, I noticed the folks there are not fans of this book either.

Clicking on some of those tags produces some highly amusing results. One link sent me to a book called "A Parent's Guide to Preventing Homosexuality". Maybe this is a hint on how stupid this book is without even reading it?

Please, Professor Dawkins, don't let this horrid interview turn you off from coming on the CBC again, though I'd understand if you never came back. This interviewer sucked.
5. 'Letter to a Christian Nation' now available in paperback

This one has been doing the rounds for a while now, but is truly wonderful:
One of the most basic laws in the universe is the Second Law of Thermodynamics. This states that as time goes by, entropy in an environment will increase. Evolution argues differently against a law that is accepted EVERYWHERE BY EVERYONE. Evolution says that we started out simple, and over time became more complex. That just isn't possible: UNLESS there is a giant outside source of energy supplying the Earth with huge amounts of energy. If there were such a source, scientists would certainly know about it.

In a way I have to admire Christian fundamentalists, as it must take a lot of dedication and stamina to block out all forms of logic and reasoning for so long.

It's a reminder that Canada, as secular as we are, is not immune to the atrocious acts that can be inspired by religion.
Of course, anyone who cricitizes or even thinks "maybe some aspects of Islam are not such a great idea" in Canada will be branded with hate speech and Islamophobia.
I would also doubt that this had anything to do with religious background, and the father sounded more like a clinically psychotic asshole control freak.

Christians hysterically offended by atheists expressing their opinion? Well, I never!

If you are incapable of understanding the work and research you're trying to conduct, then you are unsuitable for the job. I fail to see how this is even a religious issue. Either he really does not understand the concept of evolution, or he is lying to himself and others. Either way, he is in no condition to perform his duties and is rightly dismissed.
