1. Mother dies after refusing blood

Comment #85651 by ThePuckishOne on November 6, 2007 at 3:38 pm

This is the quote that makes my blood boil:

"Their best man, Peter Welch, 24, said Mrs Gough's death had devastated both sides of the family, all Jehovah's Witnesses.

Mr Welch, of Sutton Hill, Telford, said: 'We can't believe she died after childbirth in this day and age, with all the technology there is.' "

The technology was there. What was not there was a mind free of religious indoctrination to make that choice.

Hey I liked that movie! My favourite story from the Asimov robot series

Aw, sorry USA_Limey.

See, look at this little atheist lovefest we've got going on here!! Would we lead little children astray? ;)

CJ22: Somehow I doubt it's a 'free' copy. Notice the traditional "shill for Jesus" in the last sentence: Thank you in advance for your gift to help spread the Truth to the world and counter the attacks of the "New Atheists."

Yes, help defeat such horrid freethinkers as the late Issac Asimov...what, they're terrified of the dead now? Maybe they just want their money back after seeing "I, Robot."

4. Sam Harris seems like a nice fellow, but very confused

I wish I'd read IanG's superb comment before posting a response to the original post on Pharyngula. My knee-jerk response was to take Harris' remark for the worst kind of hypocritical doublespeak, but in context it can certainly be seen as a positive outcome that we should strive for.

(sigh)

Is anyone even the least surprised?

OT: Hooray, my first comment! :)
