Don_Quix
Sorry for making sweeping statement.
while they may have build up the wall between church and state. That is not the only argument we have.It is same as religious people going back to their "holy texts" to justify their acts.
And while I recognise the deeds of jefferson and Paine. It is disgusting to hear "what founding fathers would have done?" or "what founding fathers intended?" in each and every political or religious debate

Why are people so hung up on Founding Fathers?
They are Just hypocrites who wanted freedom while having slaves themselves. So Called democratic country with only few rich men could vote at that time.
While they may make a good political discussion ,it is just garbage to while away time

I would have to criticize dawkins here.
He told humans evolved from apes. That is FALSE.
He should have told that humans and apes have common ancestors.Otherwise these christian idiots will take it as if humans are one step more evolved than present day apes.

This article is by far the most stupid. This writer tells that you can't appreciate music and art unless you experience it.I assume that writer enjoys every fiction novel as being real!!!

I don't think It will benefit science in any way.The History tells us otherwise
As dawkins tells we have to move on leaving stupid arguments behind. This should not be a theatre just for an argument

Why doesn't hitchens write about the stupidity of present president's religious beliefs which he fights against? I haven't read any of his article denouncing bush for his dangerous religious beliefs, which I love to

This article begs the question-How are we going to secularise the nations that are founded on religion?who will tie the bell? I can't think of ways to secularise middle east at present!!!

Comment #98446 by gkkalai on December 13, 2007 at 3:46 pm

Is it a co-incidence that water in the bottle is exactly the same shape as the bottle?

17. You can't be moral without God!

Comment #85435 by gkkalai on November 5, 2007 at 9:37 pm

The morality as it is known hasn't been same throughout the recorded history.
It would have been perfectly moral for someone to denounce homesexuality in 1950s
It would have been perfectly moral to show racial disdain before civil rights movement
It would have been perfectly moral to practice slavery before civil war.
It was morally correct for the european societies to practise feudalism in the middle ages for all the preachings of christianity.
It was morally correct to kill the unbelievers during the years of crusades.
The morality is evolving. The society of animals which form a larger groups have a better ablity to survive and to live in the society you have to have rules. We are nothing but the descendents of those societies which have weathered the time .
You might apply to the countless tribes which have been almost eradicated by their weakness which have their own set of morality.I did come across an article which deals with societies in animals. It could be true of humans. It needs further research
