God does not enforce moral behavior, society does as shown by the different standards found throughout the world, perhaps the question should be can we be moral without a 2000 year old doctrine?

While true that a lot of kids are born to get a council flat, on the other side educated bright women are deciding to have a career instead of a child in increasing numbers, eventually this is bound to have an effect, especially with the govt. screwing up our schools. On the bright side, we haven't got creationism as yet.

I never expressed an opinion on Saddam, I agree he needed to be removed it's the methodology I disagree with, and the removal of Saddam for what he did to the people of Iraq was not the reason for the invasion, it's naive to think so. There are also other dictators are round the world guilty of atrocities, but I don't see anything being done about them.

Do you think the Iraqis deserve the hell they're in right now? Do you really think this is a 'noble' war?

The 9/11 boys weren't Iraqi, mainly Saudi. 9/11 had nothing to do with Iraq.

True it is a narrow definition, I picked it up from Wiki as easy reference.
Destruction of a country's infrastructure is harmful to civilians, the use of depleted uranium rounds, cause problems for the population for years to come this is known and still the munitions are used, deliberately targeting civilians? questionable, not even acknowledging them? definitely.

With the casualty count approaching a million that's a lot of accidents.

This debate has taken life, on reviewing my previous post, while I agree with Xenocratic on his views, I may have come across as an apologists for the Islamists, I'll try and clear that up if I may.
I don't believe in any God or Gods I find the proposition ridiculous, religious extremists are as evil as you can get, I don't hate them though, I feel sorry for them, we only get one life and they waste it in hatred what a way to live. Not just the extremists the moderates too, all religion needs to be eliminated, how I have no idea.

America's foreign policy on this issue I don't agree with, it creates a breeding ground for these extremists, the recruitment has been made easier through the abuses in Iraq and Palestine, I cannot see how America could be seen as a benevolent force both in the past or now, abuses by both the government and the corporations to the citizens of the world has been nothing short of disgusting, Xenocratic has listed a few, all ignored by Fanusi, there are many injustices in the world none should be ignored.
I don't hate America, Americans are generally nice people it's the hypocrisy I can't stand.

Have to agree with Xenocratic here, am suprised at the ignorance being shown here, As Atheists we condem the religious for being ignorant, surely you people don't wish to be hypocrits? Follow the advice given by Xenocratic read a bit before jumping on the propaganda delivered by the western governments, the things that have been done in our name is nothing short of criminal, and it is no exaggeration when the 'millions' is quoted or are you in the same school as to believe 70,000 people have been killed in Iraq since the war started are you one of the numerically challenged?

I agree the arguement is old and worn out, ID holds no water, but also this is a war we cannot afford to lose. The Creationists are in it for the long haul, they are trying it on in the UK, and getting some traction judging by the inaction from our govt. and education authorities.
There also seems to be a resurgence in religion, probably a reaction to the Islamic intrusion into British society, we cannot allow them to undermine science, we need the rational foot soldiers to keep going, they're hoping to win just by wearing us down.

Yes, it's the same old bullshit they're hawking around, but they will never give up, they'll keep dressing it up in different clothes, I'm sure everyone thought they were finished with the Scopes monkey trial, but the came back with ID, and soon it'll be called something else, they are very good with deception and brainwashing, remeber we're dealing with experts in those two disciplines.
