I will buy the DVD because I am inspired.
I have no problems parting company with money where I am inspired.

2. Sam Harris at AAI 07

Comment #82194 by ketandev on October 25, 2007 at 8:42 pm

Sam is opening up a new area to have constructive conversation, which will in time make the debates between atheists and creationists seem to irrelevant. I completely agree on Sam's view of our need not to necessitate labeling ourselves as Atheists. Being an Atheist is not a stand, because so far all we've done is to refute theists. But simply refuting theists doesn't make us who we are. It doesn't automatically give us a unique stand. In order to make a real difference, we need to be able to create a stand that actually enrolls people into pure rational thought. What are we doing to enroll people? Arguing with theists and creationists is not the answer because it will never progressively and constructively advance a conversation, it will simply raise consciousness awareness. The four musketeers have beaten this to death over the last two years and I think it is time to advance the conversation in a direction of enrolling those held hostage to religion to a point where they find their practice irrelevant. Consciousness awareness and debating is no doubt the premiere step, but there is more to this than debating creationists by calling ourselves Atheists or Anti-theists or Agnostics. We have to function and converse from a stand of ration and reason with the intent of enrollment - that is the key.

4. The Great God Debate

Comment #50174 by ketandev on June 15, 2007 at 1:19 pm

Have we had enough of these debates yet?
Are they getting boring and monotonous by the debate?
Don't they have anything new to say?

Atheists have already clobbered the religious nut cases into oblivion, it is time to start new conversations about how we can make differences for others through the atheistic stance.

Arguing for the sake of arguing is only entertaining.

I would like to see Hitchens, Dawkins, Harris and the likes set up science institutions as powerful as the religious churches and draw people.

They just opened a Creation museum in Tennessee, we can do something similar by getting corporate funding - there are lots of secular corporations out there from whom we can get sponsorship.

The all want to argue with the religious but no one wants to take the next step.

5. One Hell of a Religious Read

Comment #34335 by ketandev on April 23, 2007 at 8:24 pm

I got his book today. Apparently amazon.com has been shipping it for a few days now.

This book kicks some ass!

I needed a dictionary to try to keep up with his amazing English, but I did enjoy it!

Good work Christopher.

6. The Video: Bill O'Reilly Interviews Richard Dawkins

Comment #34287 by ketandev on April 23, 2007 at 6:10 pm

Okay I'm a bit disappointed with Richard that he needs to go on a show like this to explain himself in a 3 to 4 minute window.

I understand you want to raise consciousness Richard, but doing it on a circus show is not going to do it. The host obviously is an idiot and what is more shocking is that a person of your calibre would accept to be interviewed by this bone head.

Also, can you not come up with new arguments other than "we're all atheists with respect to zeus", or "you don't see the need to worship apollo" ... we've heard these over and over again.

Please come up with something new next time you go on television, because frankly speaking, we're fed up of listening to the same old thing over and over again.

Also, please try to take these things seriously and go on shows like Charlie Rose or Jim Lehrer and do long un-interrupted interviews where you can substantially put forth your argument and be objectively heard. Even the audience would enjoy this setting.

Don't go on these 3 minute segments, it really does a dis-service to the very thing you stand for. When you do this, it's obvious that you are doing it for the money, because no scientist can present an argument in 3 minutes, anywhere.

I'm a huge fan of yours, but please, don't be desperate to go on shows like this.

Thanks and Cheers Richard.

7. Here Comes the Fourth Musketeer.

Comment #34280 by ketandev on April 23, 2007 at 5:45 pm

I got Hitchens' book today. Read it through and enjoyed it. I had to keep a dictionary next to me because he is hard to follow at times, until you read it three times over.

I like how he doesn't take any prisoners, and definitely more aggressive than RD in his approach.

Very good book.

8. Pope says science too narrow to explain creation

Comment #31663 by ketandev on April 13, 2007 at 5:40 pm

The Nazi pope against evolution? What a surprise!

This hooded dumbass needs to rid of his halloween coatume and get educated.

HAIL DARWIN!

9. An apology to Peter Kay

Comment #25060 by ketandev on March 10, 2007 at 12:56 am

Richard,

Why are YOU apologizing for a setup stunt that the "hired publicity machine" executed?
You were set up! You didn't do it intentionally, and therefore you need not apologize for something you never intended. - no matter how it came to made you look in public. The fault is not yours.

Shouldn't it be the "hired publicity machine" that ought to apologize?

10. Debate between Sam Harris and Reza Aslan

Well done Aussie.

"...he singlemindedly pursued his myopic diatribe in an unforgivable monologue."

Brilliantly stated!

11. Ancient boy's skeleton sparks evolution debate

Comment #21347 by ketandev on February 8, 2007 at 9:15 pm

As no religion existed during the existence of the Turkana Boy, I'd say he was an atheist.

An atheist who probably lived in a cave and played drums on his wife's head, but smart enough not to be deluded.

The Bishop is right in saying he did not evolve from the Turkana boy, as evolving from an atheist would only produce something more intelligent than an atheist can ever imagine.

The Bishop has therefore DEvolved from the Turkana Boy.

How - you might ask, does one devolve from a potential ancestor?

Simple. Introduce them to religion.

12. Panel discussion on atheism where no atheists are included

Comment #20826 by ketandev on February 6, 2007 at 5:49 pm

This is utterly preposterous!
First of all Paula Zahn cannot control an interview of this type. She always lets them off easy with blind claims and accusations against atheists.
Secondly, it is awfully shameful when a pulitzer prize winner is telling atheists to shut up because clearly she feels threatened by their intelligence.
The fat white chick is there just to fill in a spot.
and finally, I applaud the Sports commentator, who was the only person who was gutsy enough to voice his objective opinion even though hedisagrees with atheism.

I DARE CNN to bring on Sam Harris or the great RD to drill some intelligence ino these deluded pricks.

13. Atheist Rap: Extian, The Verse from Atheist Nation Pt III

Freaking out the religious brainwashed deadbeats through angry atheist rappers. Brilliant!
