2. Catholics To Pope: Lift Birth Control Ban

I was married in the catholic church (I'm an atheist, raised catholic, but agreed to marry in the church. My wife, she accepts my stand on god/religion and agrees we will not hide my anti-belief from our children) so we had to take the churches marriage prep course. It came time for the "family planning" section of the course where the instructor explained all of the known means of contraception and their potential side effects. He explained how in all other forms of contraception, the main motivation was profit, since companies gain from the profit from the manufacture and sales of such products, but the church is looking out for YOU, so there is no ulterior motive, or the church has noting to gain.
I saw my opening and jumped right in. "Excuse me, but I understand that the catholic church will deny you marriage if you do not intend to have children." "Yes, correct." "So the catholic church does have something to gain by using church approved methods." "How so?". "Well, if using these methods, which statistically do have a higher rate of failure than the other methods mentioned, children will result which will mean more catholics for the church." "Your point?" "The church does have as much to gain as these other contraception methods." "Uh, yes, I guess... moving on"
Needless to say , he didn't like me much the rest of the course and didn't call on me for any more answers

Though my catholic education was nowhere as bad as this, it had it's moments. This is why I really don't want to send my soon-to-be born child into a catholic school system. Still negotiating with the wife.(She's not devout, and open to a public school education, but feels duty in continuing the tradition of catholic school education of her family). We've already discussed That I will not lie to our children about the "grand questions" when I am asked. No religious BS from me.

Let me simplify the message they are trying to send in this absurdly stupid video, Chris Crocker style "LEAVE CHRISTIANITY ALONE!!!(sob)JUST LEAVE IT ALONE!!"
Apologetics? Yeah, let me learn how to explain my bulls@#$t belief system to people who will have none of it. (sarcastically) Where do I sign up?

John is the same type of fellow who also asks "If we come from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?" What happens when you educate yourself with holy books, and not REAL non-fiction literature.

As an atheist I still say "oh my god" because it's still part of our cultural vocabulary. My sister will claim I can't say that as an atheist, as it admits some sort of belief. I once had a friend say that she didn't believe I was an atheist. She was surprised that I was annoyed. I asked her how she would feel if I told her I thought her belief in the catholic faith wasn't real, and she understood right away what she had said was offensive.
