1. Interview with Dan Dennett

Those squeaks are a little habit Dennett has of closing his throat off, resulting in a "straining" noise. It wasn't some demented female in the background.

I can prove conclusively that stork theory is true - Just prior to conceiving our first child, my wife cried out - "Wow, what a stork you have there !" - She saw it with her own eyes, and that's good enough for ME dammit.

3. Richard Dawkins and Lawrence Krauss

The above debate was very good - No stupid audience getting up and coming out with 6th form level comments like - "But you can't prove there ISN'T a God, nya-nya....."
In fact ALL the audience seemed to be atheists. There were NO dissenting voices, so the level of the topics rose a good deal higher than they would have normally, and Dawkings was able to expand the boundaries of the discussion and the scientific discussion to a greater extent than usual. Very stimulating - I couldn't leave the discussion..... too captivating to walk out on, even for making coffee. (That last bit was a lie actually, I paused it several times for this purpose).

Chris won this hands down........ His bruv didn't even seem to be that convinced of his own belief in God ! - Maybe he's having doubts.

I especially loved the Jared Diamond section. I actually learned a hell of a lot from his talk.

Julia Sweeney ALWAYS goes on like this, WHATEVER she's talking about. GOD, she's so sexy.

I'm not in the least surprised that they had the utter audacity to steal the Prof's logo and twist it out of all recognition. After all they did it with a certain Pagan festival..........

How would a JW feel if some people knocked on their door with copies of Pinnochio and tried to convince them that he was the true manger dweller?

Eh..... You mean he WASN'T ?
All this time I've been worshipping the wrong bloke ?

I understand the basic underlying tenet for the xtians is that "Christ died on the cross so our sins would be forgiven" - I happened to be talking to a self-professed xtian today - I very gently and non-confrontationally asked them "How does that work, then ? - There's obviously a process at work here....a chain of events that enables this to happen - How's it work ?" - They changed the subject. So how DOES it work ? - it's this kind of problem that is the reason I'm an atheist. It all seems to make no sense.

10. Christmas with Christopher Hitchens

Comment #102560 by and7barton on December 23, 2007 at 8:26 am

Well, we are still celebrating on the date, but I've decided to go back to the original and almost lost meaning of the date - You can't go wrong with -
a. A few penguins (Humour).......
b. A bonfire (Pagan, Germanic, Nazi)......
c. Yule log (Pagan, Germanic, Nazi),
d. Christmas Tree (Pagan, Druid, Norse mythos,Ygdrasyl, Nazi),
e. tinsel (gay fun, metallurgical),
f. Human Sacrifice (Pensioner's Xmas allowance, Hyperthermia)

11. Happy Newton Day!

Quote-
"I wonder why no one is ever afraid offending an atheist."

I must say, that as time goes on, I'm sometimes beginning to feel the twinges of being offended.
Happy Frostimass everybody !

Ref Fedler's comment -
what if the other person you want to love is a relative, like a cousin? There perhaps is no obvious reason to commit to one person, but how does that apply in an incestual relationship? Just a thought I figured I would throw out there…..
It's actually legal for cousins to marry in the UK, even FIRST cousins. Just thought I'd mention that.
