1. The Trouble with Atheism

Comment #13863 by Jakob on December 19, 2006 at 8:33 pm

This video made me realize how charismatic Dawkins is. Who is the camera less forgiving of than Liddle?

Also, this shamelessly bit off ROAE. Especially the out-of-focus B-roll shots.

A tad arrogant,
Jakob

2. Richard Dawkins on The Late Late Show with Pat Kenny

A lot of the conflict here occurs, IMO, because Dawkins and the audience aren't in agreement on a few basic points.

For example, I'm not convinced they all agree with this statement: "The truth is important."

Without a solid foundation, how can they ever expect to make any progress? I think Dawkins forgets that most people are not intellectuals.

Ugh. I suppose it was only a matter of time. Just remember everyone: YCTAT. You cannot troll a troll. Ignore the scooper. Hopefully the webmaster has a way of banning him as well.

Growing uncritical of Dawkins would be irrational. Attacks on his character should be taken seriously, even if they make us wince a bit. Sigmund's suggestion that he's turning into a "rock idol" is not absurd; Richard is clearly not just a normal scientist anymore. The last thing I want is for this to evolve into a personality cult. Let's not get carried away.

6. Atheists' delusions about God

Do the moderators of richarddawkins.net delete any comment that isn't pro-atheist? I doubt it, but 19 out of 19 comments in agreement on a public website is pretty weird.

I'd like to see more dissent! What a letdown when Dawkins spoke in NYC the other night, and the only disapproving voice in the crowd was a weirdo who sternly (and confusingly) asked Dawkins, "WHO ARE YOU?"

Wow. Attacking the view of religion as a set of unsupported scientific claims, and offering as evidence... Completely unsupported (and indeed largely meaningless) scientific claims. Bravo.
