Wow

This is great, the more stupidity they come up with the more nuts they look to the average joe. Keep it coming, let the world realise what a theocracy would be like. I can say fuck, fuckbucks, much better than slutbucks.

Like the penises of priests for one thing.

4. Church is paying a high price for its celibacy rule

Comment #134827 by yogibear on February 28, 2008 at 8:40 am

I heard a while ago that the reason the church enforced the celibacy rule in the 12th century was to stop the families of priests claiming their money and land therfore allowing the church to claim it. Anyone knoe the truth or not of that? Also and oldie but a goodie

As someone already said, if this wasn't in the name of religion this nutjob would be up for abuse.

Seems like the kind of guy to lose it, grab a high velocity rifle and do some damage. Anyone who stops masturbating is asking for trouble!!!

7. This Week's Flea

Comment #101093 by yogibear on December 19, 2007 at 8:00 pm

Hypoluxa i considered writing one myself also, however unlike these flea people i recognise my ignorance about the universe and would rather learn from people who do know.

8. This Week's Flea

Comment #101092 by yogibear on December 19, 2007 at 7:56 pm

I was considering giving "god is not great" or "the blind watchmaker" to the fundies who appear on my doorstep from time to time. They would probably hand me one of these fleas in return.

I wonder if the churches give them out to their congregations?

How do i put the box around quotes?

9. Borders Tags Atheist Book with 'O Come All Ye Faithless' Cards

Comment #101091 by yogibear on December 19, 2007 at 7:47 pm

The poor poor christians.

"Our customers are intelligent, curious people who enjoy exploring all types of books and music. Naturally, some of the thousands of books and music selections we carry could be considered controversial or objectionable depending on individual views, tastes and interest," Borders said in a statement.

If your going to make huge claims about the world and its history and how people should behave, a sense of humour would help.

Hey how do i do the cool box around the quotes thingy.

10. 2007 Audiobook Download of the Year: The God Delusion

Comment #99041 by yogibear on December 15, 2007 at 10:07 am

Thats a great idea jesus4dawkins, and if Richard could read them himself would be even better. Got god is not great read personally by Christopher Hitchens on audio and found it easier to listen to than the Portable atheist not read personally by him. It must take up a lot of valuable time to do this, however i think it makes for a more convincing argument.

11. The Stupidity of Fox News is Truly Beyond Belief

Comment #52228 by yogibear on June 26, 2007 at 2:15 pm

He should debate Dawkins, Hitchens, Harris or Dennett and then he can put forward his "good science" reasons for the existence of a god. I think this priest doesn't understand Science period.

12. Gay row US Anglicans miss summit

He said: "The primates in 2003 and in 2005 recognised that the bishop of New Hampshire had been duly elected and consecrated according to the proper procedures of the Episcopal Church and it was stated in 2005 at the primates meeting.

"However, for the archbishop to simply give full recognition at this conference would be to ignore the very substantial and widespread objection in many parts of the communion to his consecration and to his ministry."

So he was domocratically elected, but cannot be invited as he is gay.

And as we all know, if a bronze age text says you cannot lie with a man as a women then we today should persecute people as if they actuaqllt had a clue.

Ironic how the church is so concerned with saving the fetus but has no qualms about covering up the molestation and rape of healthy living children.

17. Anderson Cooper interviews Christopher Hitchens

Comment #39585 by yogibear on May 11, 2007 at 8:11 am

Yes the interview with Christopher Hitchens was good and his book is excellent, however the following segment on the show "Faith versus science" was sickeningly one sided in favour of faith, the segment was about 40 minutes long and i think science got about 5 minutes of that, plus all the highlighted bible verses and religious footage left me in no doubt which way CNN leans

18. World's most prominent atheist takes on the Biblical God (and other topics)

I have seen that same smug look on the faces of the insane and deluded.

What are the viewing figures for this show? Anybody know.

19. Street Evangelist Saves 300 Souls From Enjoying Park

Comment #33875 by yogibear on April 22, 2007 at 11:18 am

There is often a preacher in the downtown pedestrianised area of Belfast, kind of amusing there as you are passing by, probably not as amusing for long periods of time like in this park.

Always wanted to do a non theist, humanist presentation with a PA myself in Belfast, have to say i never got the courage.

Would a person doing the atheist presentation in public be allowed to continue as the religous speakers are, hmmmm im not sure.

20. Gay hate church to picket VT gun rampage funerals

Comment #33709 by yogibear on April 21, 2007 at 9:56 am

Just as in American Beauty and with Ted Haggard, people with this much homophobia i believe are covering something up, maybe some childhood pastor of Phelps abused him and this is his reaction.

Also the media gives them a lot more power than they deserve, I saw the Louis Theroux segment on You tube and thought "why give them the coverage", it certainly highlighted their hate and irrationality, however now they are more widely known and may attract spectators at the funerals they protest.

I find this a lot more disgusting than the Don Imus remark, however i cant see how the Phelps will pay like he did.

22. Does God answer prayer? ASU research says 'yes'

Comment #26056 by yogibear on March 16, 2007 at 10:23 am

"Some people feel Benson and associates' study from last year, which is the most recent and showed no positive effects for intercessory prayer, is the final word,"

Those will be the sane non-deluded people who accept double blind trials. Does anyone have the list of studies that the article refers too?

23. No exemption from gay rights law

Comment #19772 by yogibear on January 29, 2007 at 9:45 pm

"We are, of course, deeply disappointed that no exemption will be granted to our agencies on the grounds of widely held religious conviction and conscience"

What hypocrisy, this is a fantastic decision on behalf of the government. Where do the catholic church get off talking about sexual morality.

24. Blasphemy Challenge on FOX

Comment #19664 by yogibear on January 29, 2007 at 6:35 am

Ahh fox news

As good an example of an ateism christian debate as there is. Atheist calm and logical, Christian impassioned and annoyed.

At least its publicity, and maybe some people in the states will check out the rational response site and have thier own conclusions.

25. Intelligent design to feature in school RE lessons

Comment #18855 by yogibear on January 23, 2007 at 8:35 am

Creationism always was taught in RE at least in Northern Ireland, by that i mean genesis. To have atheism and evolution on the curriculum as well in RE is a positive step, at least kids get to see both sides of the argument, and if evolution is also taught in Science then hopefully they will see the truth in the science. Nobody then can say they where coerced into a scientific viewpoint. Just keep ID out of the science classroom

26. The problem with secularism

Comment #14380 by yogibear on December 22, 2006 at 8:03 am

You think, nothing sounds more bizarre to me than religion.

27. The Trouble with Atheism

Comment #13768 by yogibear on December 19, 2006 at 10:50 am

10 minutes is all i gave this, this guy has no argument worth listening too. Channel 4 has gone down hill if they show bollocks like this.

28. Richard Dawkins on The Late Late Show with Pat Kenny

Comment #12154 by yogibear on December 11, 2006 at 12:42 am

Embarrasing to be Irish and watch this, as has been noted, no intellectual heavy weights on this show barring Richard, however i think a good representation of how the belief in the church in Ireland still prevails.

After all that has happened in many dioceses and after the cover up and denial of the church is it not time people in Ireland asked themselves some hard questions about what they believe.

If child abuse on this scale had occured in Mc Donalds resteraunts by their managers in different regions in Ireland, nobody would ever eat their again, in fact the company would be out of business. The church apparently can lie about it, allow it to continue and then get away with it and people still believe.
