1. Exorcism death shocks archdeacon

"He said Ms Moses' paternal family was not involved in the ceremony.
"As many as 40 people were at the house during the ceremony."

And by 'ceremony' we should read 'murder', yes?

2. Nigeria teacher dies 'over Koran'

In reality it is often fuelled by ethnic or political conflicts and competition for resources, which can be fierce, given that so many people live in poverty, he says.

Because of course it couldn't really be religious differences. Everyone knows it's never religion that's actually at fault. The violence in Northern Ireland? Political. In Iraq? Ethnic. Never religious, no siree.

That was hilarious. I love the BBC. I think that humour is a wonderful way to expose people to these ideas too. Ridicule is a much more effective way to undermine an idea than debate.

4. Violent video games leave teenagers emotionally aroused

Brilliantly, when this story shows up in a newsreader it doesn't have the same formatting in the headline, so it reads, " Violent video games leave teenagers emotionally aroused by Radiological Society of North America". That seems to be a very specific and unexpected effect of video-gaming. :)

I try to read as many of the counter arguments to Dawkins' book as I have the time to, but I simply can't be bothered to wade through such a pathetic mess of deliberate obscurantism as this. This sort of writing is indicative of one of two things: a writer unable to state his position; or a writer without a position to state, but who has a word limit to reach.

6. Dawkins the dogmatist

Correct me if I'm wrong (I have been out- erm- chemically diminishing my cognitive capacity for some hours) but doesn't this argument collapse to an argument from popularity? Atheism isn't popular, therefore it's wrong? Well I'm not even going to bother finding the precise statistics to counter that fallacy, but it's worth pointing out that for each religious tradition in existence, there exist at least four billion people disagree.

"There are lots of books about it. I suggest you go and read one."
