1. The rival to the Bible

Today, 30 mainly Greek Orthodox monks, dedicated to prayer, worship there

Sounds fun to me! Party island!

2. Large Hadron Collider readies for world's biggest experiment

Comment #243827 by exorcist on September 7, 2008 at 1:22 pm

Although I cannot understand exactly why this experiment is important, I know it makes me extremely proud of our species. Go monkeys, go!

3. Palin: average isn't good enough

Richard, I have to confess that I too have made the Dawkins/Hawking mistake. After reading The Selfish Gene at age 15 or so, I remember telling my parents and friends about this interesting book I read by this Richard Hawking... or wait, was that Steven Dawkin... no no Richard Dawking!

I have since managed to figure out which is which.

4. Dalai Lama defends Islam as peaceful religion

The Lama is looking forward to retirement? I had no idea you could retire from the post of semigod?

5. Sharia law 'could have UK role'

Comment #204250 by exorcist on July 4, 2008 at 2:02 pm

I don't care what you excuse might be - if you are British, don't write a fuck this and fuck that post on the RD website - save your criticisms for your local newspaper, your local politician or even your T-shirt. Living in a highly secular country, where the role of religion has been diminished to an obscure white noise, I may not fully understand the British situation. But damn it, if the country that always has been a critical player in promoting science and culture in Europe allows a judge to promote superstitious ridiculousness and violence, shame on you. Rise up and speak out! Today! Do yourself and your children a favour and do something right now... please!

I'm sorry if my word seem harsh, but I've completely had it with these idiots... I guess many of you are familiar with how I feel..

6. Richard Dawkins on Doctor Who

Comment #202844 by exorcist on July 2, 2008 at 3:53 am

To me, it seems that trying to discuss science with a creationist is the same as trying to discuss the brush strokes of da Vinci with a blind person.

7. Richard Dawkins and Lawrence Krauss

What a great debate... or discussion, rather. This site is so very refreshing after having to listen to or watch the nonsense in everyday media. The phrase "A clear-thinking oasis" really sums it up very well. Thanks so much for posting these great videos and articles!

8. A New Flea

Comment #160432 by exorcist on April 14, 2008 at 5:03 am

Ahh yes... more ranting from the shrill "New Fleaists".

It is my opinion that the great diversity of parasites clinging to Richard et al. - in fact, it appears to me that even Richard's fleas have fleas of their own - necessitates a re-evaluation of the flea taxonomy. Suggestions on how to name the common Dawkins flea would be much appreciated. Below are some examples from Wikipedia.

Some well known flea species include:
* Cat flea (Ctenocephalides felis),
* Dog flea (Ctenocephalides canis),
* Human flea (Pulex irritans),
* Northern rat flea (Nosopsyllus fasciatus),
* Oriental rat flea (Xenopsylla cheopis).

9. Happy Birthday, Richard Dawkins!

Happy birthday Richard and many, many thanks for all your fantasic and inspiring books. The Selfish Gene made me a scientist, the God Delusion made me an atheist. I wonder where you'll take me next! You don't look a day over 65!
