It is, of course, as many visiting this site will agree, absurd to think that without a belief in god we have no basis for morality. Morality was there before the first-impression explanation called god reared its ugly head, and it will be there long after that first-impression explanation fades in the face of much more real and satisfying explanations.

As to all the petty objections by secularists, though that should stop. Let them have their little crosses around their necks. There are far bigger battles to fight.

As to Christmas, this is one atheist who loves Christmas. Of course, I think of it more as Clausmas (LOVE that big fat guy in the red suit!), and I worship Bing Crosby and Nat King Cole, not Mary and a bunch of stable animals. I like ho-ho-ho and jolly elves and the whole idea of giving, because I think the "spirit" of the season is a very HUMAN feeling, and nothing divine at all.

So, Merry (or Happy) Clausmas and a Bright New Year!
