Apparently the UN Human Rights Council doesn't give a shit about human rights. Ironic that they should be so named...
Time for the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster to start appointing official religous scholars or priests. Anyone who declares himself/herself a religious scholar now is within his/her rights to criticize any religion or cult.

I'm going to have a discussion over the phone with this guy tomorrw. Hopefully I can educate him in the more recent (since 1860) developments in biology and cosmology.

Oh surely it must be political or economic. It can't be religion, because faith is a virtue!
Barbaric slime. Why is it so hard to rid the world of gods?

Bonobos have language too... sort of.
They at least have some simple spoken language in the wild.

Anyone else hear something like muffled music in the background? Either there's a party going on in the next room or there's a microphone picking up someone's... somewhat irregular... heartbeat.
10. Are Darwin's Theories Fact or Faith Issues?

OK, we're waaaaayyy past showing evolution to be well-established fact. We even have really good evidence for several forms of abiogenesis now.
"Debating" evoultion is like beating a dead horse, except the horse has decomposed and been absorbed by the roots of some grass, which was then eaten by other horses, which have since died.
11. Richard Dawkins on The Big Questions

Uhh, I live in the US and I'm pretty sure the drinking age is a ubiquitous 21. Prostitution is legal in Nevada, the death penalty is on its way out, and there is no law against gay marriage. There are people lobbying for an amendment against it, but no such amendment exists, nor will it ever (I hope). It's up to the state governments.
Anyway, these debates are really frustrating. It's the 21st century - why the hell does anyone still believe in God? Someone needs to point out to these people that religion is nothing but fairy tales and nonsense to begin with!
Also, I'm embarrassed by the whole Clinton/Lewinski thing. The press has absolutely no right to ask the president about his personal life. It is NONE of their business, and he did the right thing by lying. I can't believe a bj almost earned him impeachment but Bush was elected to a second term. I live in a backwards country :-/

I think the best response to the part about atheists entering a church and having "an experience which will lead them to faith", would have been "well, if you entered a church of Sherlock Holmes, can you imagine having an experience which would lead you to faith in him?"
I find making this kind of comparison particularly useful. I use Peter Pan mostly, because you have a lot of parallels - Neverland = heaven, Capt. Hook = Satan, lost boys = angels etc etc.
