It so often turns out that people of this caste fulminate against the very sins/ temptations that they are a prey to.Perhaps this is a widespread phenomena when it comes to human sexuality. There must be some underlying reason as to why the most sexually active among us wants to pretend that they are not so. For example, I come from a country where kissing on movie screens is considered vulgar, sex related talk is not at all tolerated, contraception is evil, teachers skip over biology lessons that teach sex, and everyone pretends they are not interested in sex. BUT we are the second most populated place on the planet. Somebody is having a lot of sex.

I've had even more dramatic mass brainwashing experiences from christian retreats in India. Fortenberry's session is a piece of cake compared to the brainwasher my mom bought in to literally cast out the demon of intellect out of me. His methods did work on me for a couple of weeks. I even thought I might lose my sanity.
I plan to blog about it someday. But meanwhile let me assure you friends, there are people out there who can convert Richard into christianity if he submits to them for a week.

Sam, I think it was a bad idea to warn people that there would be a lot more of Survey 1 respondents if they don't do it random. People have a tendency to pick Survey 3 when they do it random.

Wouldn't you all love it if we had a single point of access to a repository of all previously published journal material which is
0. Clickable on the references section and leads you to the right reference.
1. Annotate-able by anyone with tags that overlay the original content.
2. Searchable in a more googly manner from a single text field
3. Web pages that don't refresh every time you click something.
We are working on exactly such a thing at National University of Singapore. That is Science 2.0. It is not a buzzword.

I am really sad for John. I am more sad for his kids.
But Dr. Dawkins, I don't think you should have called him naive, straight at the face. That was so un-Carl Saganish. I mean you could have just left out that part about calling him naive and got staright to how tiktaalik is the most recently discovered intermediary, and why it is extinct, and how the fossils where found in the right geological strata where it was expected to be found.
I really think we are in the business of seduction not rape. I have found my undercover work very effective for building cognitive dissonance in fundamentalist minds. I converted myself with such (self-induced)dissonance. Your book is really effective too, but believers usually boycott it. But it is the best for fence-sitters.
