"Holding a dogmatic stand against executions seems to believe in some hippy like notions of sanctitiy of life. One has to look at hidden choices. By choosing not to execute a cold blooded murderer, you are choosing to have another 5-6 innocent victims killed due to the reduced deterrence that you have to offer."

Can you please cite some statistics that show individuals incarcerated for the duration of their natural life are somehow able to murder another "5-6 innocent victims" whilst in prison?

Raiko, the appeals process and legal fees necessary to carry out all the mandatory appeals of an execution far outstrips the cost of keeping a prisoner in custody for the decades a normal "life sentence" lasts.
