2. Turkey bans biologist Richard Dawkins' website

Firstly I am overwhelmed by the fact the ban made such an effect in the forum.I wouldn't expect such reaction.
Secondly,Having read the comments coming from the users from all over the world, I realized that the folk outside the Turkey, especially yanks, don't seem to have the slightest idea about today's Turkey, but they are ready to make off-the-cuff comments(I made friends from the US, and one of the first things they asked me If we were using camels for transport instead of cars. And I was like are you joking or something and said her that today's Turkey is much more developed than many of the EU member countries).I mean in spite of the efforts that the government have made to advertise Turkey and its culture, the foreigners' impression of Turkey seem to be guite a wrong one,to say the truth. And I regretfully realized it once more here,in this forum.
I am also surprised to see that actually there are many users from Turkey in the site. Moreover the number is increasing.keep up lads!
Any of u can contact me via pm.
3. Turkey bans biologist Richard Dawkins' website

Thanks to my university, one of the leading Universities in Turkey,I can access richarddawkins.net because I guess it doesnt use government's Internet provider, but a private one.
Before that, I was using Turk Telecom's service, the official provider, and I had to use proxy servers to access the site.
Actually, they can ban the website, but they can never ban us from accessing the site!(God[If any] bless proxy servers:D
Nota bene:there is one advantage of this ban, A lot of people have met Richard Dawkins and his ideas thanks to news about the ban and day by day the number of Turks visiting the site is increasing,That's excellent news, innit?
4. Turkey in radical revision of Islamic texts

I am from Turkey and I can honestly say that this news is great.I think a revolutionary look of Islam can be a perfect opportunity to criticize or review Islam, which few people can do in today's Turkey apart from an amazingly increasing number of atheist.

The book is extraordinarily fascinating and so are the debates Mr Dawkins is included.Ypu can find some of them on youtube, dont miss! Now, I am desperately waiting for Mr Dawkins to come to Turkey and hopefully our university.I dont think the public will make a fuss about it.Here, people usually dont interfere with each other's religions, though atheist are somewhat reluctant to
come out(unlike me:D)
