1. A trip to the Creation Museum

Comment #206582 by jiujitstheist on July 8, 2008 at 1:39 pm

Thanks for the article. When you have time can you expand on it? The reason I ask?
I've shared a cubicle with an IDiot for the past few years (actually, he's very smart at IT and good at his job which makes it harder to understand how he swallows this kind of tripe) and he has taken his 3 small children there three or four times now. Comes to work in a creationist museum polo shirt sometimes and has told me I should check the place out. Yes, I've explained to him a number of times that I wouldn't walk across the street to see it even if it were free. Well, maybe I would just for the morbid amusement value. Hearing that it's got a number of scare tactic displays simply makes me shake my head even more. It does make me feel sorry for his kids though.

WACKJOB!!!

sorry I couldn't come up with anything more clever, but that's what was screaming in my head upon reading this. Like someone elses voice. Now it's telling me to call my dentist. But I have fear.
Pray for me o Saint Molar.

"Do people think it is worth bothering to go on the radio to talk about it?"

I'd say yes but honestly, aren't you getting tired of repeating yourself to these sheep?

Probably not since you're you.

Do it.

I live in the columbus area and was suprised to see this as I hadn't heard anything about it before seeing it on this site.
What doesn't suprise me is this wack-a-doo.
I'm sorry to say that these types of fools are all over the place here.
The "Church" of Scientcrockery is trying to get permission to build a big new building in the area.
I work in the same cubicle as a Fundy.
Don't get me started................

I don't have to wait till the end of the day to make a choice. There is no choice. You believe fairytales are fact. I don't.

Artful writes:
Paula, there is a lot of truth in that objection to Pascal's wager. What kind of love is that indeed? And yet, incredibly, God will accept us even on such outrageously self-centred terms! That is what is so incredible about grace! Look at the stories of Jesus' encounters with people from all walks of life in the gospels. They came to him out of their need, and, reading their hearts he accepted them ... but then gave them a lot more than they had "bargained" for, and accepted them only for as long as they were prepared to go the whole hog. A CS Lewis said, we invite God into our lives because we want Him to rearrange the furniture. He comes in, but his intention is to build a palace. After all, He intends to live there himself! Your reference to King Lear is an interesting one in that respect. The point about Regan and Goneril was not that they "loved" their father and submitted to him for selfish reasons, but that they did not love him at all, and had no intention of ever changing their minds. In fact their words were calculated to beguile their gulible father. But God is not king Lear. He will not be beguiled by manipulative intentions. Our need may initially be self-centred, but if we think we can, after making that choice, use God to our own advantage, we are knocking on the wrong door.

what mindless drek

Sorry, I mis-spoke (Hey, Hillary can say that, so can I). I didn't mean bootlicking going on in just this thread. I mean't the discussion threads in general. Sometimes there's just a bit too much hero-worship going on for me.
And being a good atheist I don't take to worshiping. It's hard on my already damaged knees.

As much as I hate to agree with Artful_Dodger he does make a valid point. I'm an atheist. I think Dawkins is a great man. It's great to have someone of his stature smacking the fundies upside the head. However, there is, at times, too much boot licking going on in the threads. Dawkins more than anyone would want more objectiveness by some on the board.
But dodger is still a tool.

Speaking as an American who has lived in America for 47 years I think that Mr. Laurie has a very nice grasp of a typical snobby midwestern American accent. I've seen him in a number of other television shows and marvel at how well he can do an American accent. I also love HOUSE.
