*Could be just a correlation? I think there is evidence to suggest that those who have been poorly educated or not done well in education (i.e. bit dim) tend to take less interest in politics and are less likely to get involved in civic affairs. Such people might also be the ones most readily suckered into the type of church talked about above.*
to BLZBub:
Do you have proof of this or is it just a belief?

*If you can't see how our Founding Fathers being Atheist would greatly affect today's political discourse then you seriously need to think about the issue some more.*
Yes, the FF's religion is still a point of debate. Yes, it affects how americans interpret their laws.
But the point is about how the Constitution and it's method of interpretation is functioning AS A RELIGION.
In other words, even if you manage to keep church and state seperate, your state still functions as a secular religion.
As long as american athiests are blind to how the Constitution and it's interpretation functions as a secular religion, you will never successfully keep any religion out of american politics.

*But they still have to discuss, for example what the Magna Carta means.*
Um. No we don't. We have no written Constitution.

hello again mordacious one
Whereas Darwin is indeed the starting point for evolutionary theory he is not the end. As far as I know, other scientists have improved upon his research. Therefore, the Constitution is the starting point, not the end.

Thanx for the response mordacious one.
However, it seems to me that your Constitution and its interpretation follows the exact same model as any modern christian theologian trying to interpret what some bronze age middle eastern desert dweller thought 3000 years ago. And both the theologian and the modern politician are focusing on law.
What then is the difference between religion and state?

May I ask why americans are so concerned with what religion the "Founding Fathers" had? What real bearing does the Founding Fathers religious beliefs have on today's USA? Does america only function according to what these individuals dictated centuries ago?
By the way, I just love that phrase "Founding Fathers". It sounds like someting belonging to scripture, science fiction or church heirarchy, like "elders", the sanhedrin, or or the Fremen.
7. 'My daughter deserved to die for falling in love'

This chap hasn't been brainwashed. He knows there are alternatives to his actions as he compares his own actions to those that would happen in the West.
He quite clearly made a choice between allowing his daughter freedom and murdering her.
If he can choose he is not brainwashed.

I don't think some people see it as a duty but as a pleasure. The chap in the story is proud of being a woman-killer and proud of all the men who support woman-killing. If the chap didn't want to kill her he wouldn't have.
She died because he wanted her to. End of story.
9. Atheists An Increasingly Outspoken Minority

"Where do you place your trust in times of need? Where do you place your hope in the time of a crisis of confidence?" Hanson said.
Well, if you look at what a theist would do in these situations, they would pray in order to calm themselves down and pray to bouy themselves up.
In other words, they use prayer just like a drug-user uses chemicals to affect their mood.
The atheist can calm themselves and bouy themselves up by trusting to their own or others resources.
Therefore, the technique is the same.
The difference is only in that a theist believes in God and an atheist doesn't.
However, this human application of the technique in both situations demonstrates that it is the power of the human mind, and not an all powerful diety, that is the deciding factor.
