1. Richard Dawkins' US Tour begins this week

Comment #137995 by mikkala on March 3, 2008 at 6:05 pm

What, no Canadian dates?

Nevertheless, I look forward to all the material that will no doubt, be appearing on RD's website.

2. The OUT Campaign has its own Flea!

Comment #106375 by mikkala on January 2, 2008 at 6:49 pm

Honestly though, have they no scruples?

You'd expect an enormous group of flying zombie worshipers to have more imagination, and tact, than thievery in the broad daylight.

They even get all the little stolen details just right too. Talk about "OCD" (Obsessive christ disorder)

Question to any psychiatrists; Where do you begin to disect the mind of a believer in belief? How do you approach this sort of behaviour?

3. All the mistakes of the godly are merely metaphor

Comment #57724 by mikkala on July 20, 2007 at 7:20 pm

Question;

Who can tell me if PZ has written any books?
If he hasn't, it's a damn shame. The man is a literary giant, not to mention incredibly informed about the topics he adresses.

He ought to follow suit and publish a blockbuster hardcover. Toss another proverbial "bomb" to god's weakening chin. His posts are always sparkling.

I'm just starting to read the "encyclopidea galactica" chapter of the book Cosmos. I can tell already I'm going to feel kinda sad when I finish it. Carl really has that effect on me. He grabs you by your very being and he humbles you.

5. Let us pray for the soul of Richard Dawkins

Comment #40544 by mikkala on May 14, 2007 at 12:55 pm

Sweet baby Jesus!!

It appears there was an avalanche of most delectable tid-bits of Info. I'll be a while reading/watching/listening to all the articles and various tid-bits, posted on this day of 14/05/07.

RD, you're the best. You keep the hard-core info coming through the system, We'll keep the hits coming in your general direction.

It was indeed a good day at RD.net
Big ups to Josh T. for keeping things tidy!

Over and out.

6. Sam Harris in conversation with Oliver McTernan

Comment #38994 by mikkala on May 9, 2007 at 5:40 pm

Very interesting how in both interviews with Sharpton, and McTernan, they both completely abandon their character faith and resort to an argument that is not demonstratable. They turn tail and run to the super naturality, to explain away everything.

Like Hitchens said to Sharpton; "All your explaining is ahead of you."

7. The God Delusion is one of the Ten Best Audiobooks

Comment #31358 by mikkala on April 12, 2007 at 6:03 am

Download from audible.com, that's what I did. Money well spent. The book comes in two parts, and runs about 13 hours. Dawkins and Ward do an exquisite job of narration. Quite a nice touch to hear RD and his better half reading with passion, a work near, and dear to them both.

9. The God Debate

HARRIS: I don't want to pretend to be certain about anything I'm not certain about

Perfect.
Nothing more to be said.

11. Happy 66th Birthday, Richard Dawkins!

Comment #27702 by mikkala on March 26, 2007 at 7:40 am

Happy Happy B-day RD!

I lauged my anus off at the Teddy Hagard 10 point buck pic. He is a real prize.
I wonder If RD could get something like that to hang on his library wall?
It would look nice hanging there with all his credentials.

12. An apology to Peter Kay

Comment #25167 by mikkala on March 10, 2007 at 3:44 pm

It takes a big man to admit he's wrong.
It takes an even bigger man to apologize, when he has nothing to admit to.

Doesn't the organized media obscure the point almost beyond reason?

13. God: The Failed Hypothesis

Comment #24540 by mikkala on March 7, 2007 at 7:04 am

In response to tieInterceptor,

Here's what Wiki.org says about Finland in particular;

Most Finns are members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland (82.4%) with a minority of 1.1% belonging to the Finnish Orthodox Church (see Eastern Orthodox Church). The remainder of the population consists of small groups (totaling 1.1%) of other Protestant denominations, Catholics, Muslims and Jews beside the growing population of unaffiliated (15.4%). The main Lutheran and Orthodox churches are the official churches of Finland. HOWEVER, church attendance is much lower than these figures may suggest. Most of the population holds generally secular views. A majority of members of the state Lutheran Church do not participate actively, and even then it is mostly for occasions like weddings and funerals.

Notice the capitalized "however". That's an awfully big "however". That's the kind of "however" the rest of the world needs in their Wikipedia description, under the "religion" heading.

14. The Dawkins Confusion: Naturalism ad absurdum

Comment #23567 by mikkala on March 1, 2007 at 2:41 pm

When did Nature become a bad thing, in which to place our belief? Theology is remarkably fantastical isn't it? It makes naturalism sound so bush league.

It would be nice, if it were practical to place our belief in fantasy. However this is supremely impractical. Thus we must recognize nature for what it is.

And theology, for what it is. Bush League.

15. The Dawkins Confusion: Naturalism ad absurdum

Comment #23548 by mikkala on March 1, 2007 at 2:07 pm

The title is a joke. Right?
Confusion was certainly, an underlying standard, for the comprehensibility.

16. The Dawkins Confusion: Naturalism ad absurdum

Comment #23540 by mikkala on March 1, 2007 at 1:46 pm

Honestly everyone, I completely lost track. I was distracted by the babbling, double-talking, theology jive. Shortly after I started, I discontinued.

It's like, I'm supposed to learn a new language, so I'll understand this joker. Anyone else?

Thanks RD

17. Foreword for the UK edition of 'Letter to a Christian Nation'

Comment #22216 by mikkala on February 13, 2007 at 2:49 pm

Dr. Dawkins.

As always, it was a pleasure to read your foreward on "Letter to Christian Nation". Sam and yourself, are indeed both, right on the bullseye.
Not a "jot nor tittle" wasted or misused. "An elegantly fletched arrow from a taut bowstring"

18. Panel discussion on atheism where no atheists are included

Comment #21442 by mikkala on February 9, 2007 at 7:41 am

I stated earlier that I couldn't stand CNN.
I was hoping to tune in last evening to see paula zahn iterview RD however. What did I find instead of RD? I found a breaking news special on the death of anna nichole smith. I thought to myself, "well this is certainly shit." So i check the RD web site and he's been pushed back to friday evening. And again to monday evening next week. I wonder if RD will ever get on at this pace?

CNN = Christian news network

19. Do stop behaving as if you are God, Professor Dawkins

Comment #21418 by mikkala on February 9, 2007 at 5:59 am

This article, was simply a re-gurgitation of the same old arguments.
Dawkins has put forth an astoundingly articulate, and masterful work. McGrath or any other apologists like him, don't know how to deal with the simplicity of Richard's arguments. That's why we keep reading, what seems to be the same dilapidated responses to TGD.
As long as Richard, or other's like him, keep putting their face into the public's living rooms. Theists and apologists just keep spinning their tires until there's no tread left. Hopefully sooner than later.

20. Root of All Evil? Discussion

Comment #20559 by mikkala on February 4, 2007 at 6:50 am

Richard,
You are an extremely noble man to come on programs like this, and suffer people who seem wholly un-educated, and ignorant in the debate which they enter into.
The look on Dr. dawkins face was priceless when he was asked to stop his heart, and start it again.

21. CBC Segment on Evangelist Christians

Comment #14573 by mikkala on December 23, 2006 at 12:10 pm

It's a shame how much religion and capitalism has F'd up all our brains in an un-natural way. we are all subject to at least one if not both of them. they both depend on a completely deluded "fold" or "populus" if you will. It takes balance to promote reason. both of the before mentioned precepts are anything but balanced. It's sad to not be able to speak on an intellectually honest plane with alot of the people I meet. even when they're not religious. I just think we all should quit kidding ourselves about ourselves! Richard Dawkins is a good example of striving toward Intellectual honesty. Thank you Dr. Dawkins
