"A man who has had to "forgive" his friends for praying for him during a life-threatening heart illness..." That's a little extreme, eh?

Happy Birthday, Richard!
The last year saw me read your work for the first time. You have opened my eyes in far too many ways to mention here. Thank you, and here's to hoping you'll be around for a fair bit longer. Lord knows we need you now more than ever.
My regards to Lalla as well!

Haha... very amusing that Richard hadn't heard of Ben Stein... that whiny voice is sort of a minor pop-culture landmark in the States and Canada. There's even a game-show... "Win Ben Stein's Money." I always reacted to him with indifference, until I found out that he was amongst the religious right, and then he was annoying to me. I believe he's had *some* OK film roles... but I won't say memorable ones, cos I can't remember them.
Anyway what a terrible racket this whole thing is. I hope that the film does get theatrical exposure and totally bombs at the box office.
ALTHOUGH... "Darwin influnced Hitler" might be a little straightforward, but Darwin's books influenced his cousin Frances Galton's ideas about eugenics, which definitely influenced the Nazis' ideas about racial purity. This is pretty well-documented

If an audio edition is done, it should be read by Richard and Lalla, like the God Delusion and Ancestor's Tale. Richard could read the intros and Lalla the articles or vice versa. I would buy that the day it came out.

There are moments in this where I feel like slapping Hitchens across the face! J/K, but still, he asserts that he wouldn't wish a world where there were no religious believers. Neither would I, but the difference is that I'm not a staunch atheist; why would one advocate a position so strongly if they didn't want to see it realized? Dawkins points out that he seems to love the theatre of argument, and advocates that we can reason and develop our intellects without religion. Basically Chris gets PWNED a bit there IMO
