How would ancient people know about sperm wars to put this together. The crushed testicle would seem odvious to anyone who knows the male part in reproduction but I am not so sure regular circumcision reduces fertility at all.

I think invoking hitler was somewhat tacky but other then that this communication was good.
I have listened to Boteach before he often gets things close to true but not quite there yet. Once I was reading an article of his and he sited a source for a claim that something like 50% of school children in the US believed that it is ok to kill someone for stealing something for you. He meant to show the horrible condition of children in the US. He sited his source and I followed it. Turns out the survey was conducted to show the condition of the children in inner cities. Which wasn’t what he was implying. A lot of people are like that. It wouldn’t surprise me if this debate was something a little different then advertised. But I am not paying to find out.

You know cowalker when I was a Christian I realized much of the stuff in the bible was horrible so I thought I had seen the worst. But going back over it there seems to be a lot of rotten stuff that I missed or had forgotten. I think many Christians ( who are better Christians then I was ) can read the bible and tune out all the bad and stupid parts. The bad parts just dont compute.

It seems like when they are talking to atheists they just start to inject the words logic and evidence randomly into their proofs. It is just like they have learned a few words that are supposed to matter and will milk them for all they are worth.

Oh and by the way. I HATE when people say that something is PC and so must be wrong. They don't explain why they think it is wrong it is just supposed to be self evident that anything that can be attached to the word PC must be wrong.
PC mostly means new they think everything new is wrong.

I thought this was a well put together letter. The guy will most likely see it when he cools down. The first piece of writing makes him look like just another 'hate mail' writer. But since the second sounds more sane he most likely made the mistake of writing when upset and will be able to see reason after Dawkins applies his extensive writing ability to the task.

I am not in the least surprised. I think that the people going into this movie believing in evolution will think it is stupid. And the people going into it that believe in intelligent design will think it is great.This is the way it is for all kinds of things.
Sometimes I worry about myself, if the things I believe really make sense or they make sense to me because of some inner work up. For example I find it very disconcerting that the arguments for gods existence are so very convincing to Christians in yet I find them ridiculous while the arguments against make perfect sense to me but not to Christians.

I don't know how someone can say it helps the asking of moral and philosophy questions. How could spend any time in a church and think that it promotes questioning of any principal.

He says Christianity is making converts and atheism is not. I know of many people who were Christian and now they are not. Not many have never believed in God.
He talks about how much better at consoling a Christian is. I will relate one of the stories that turned my mother off church. In her old church there was in attendance a woman who had just lost her husband. This woman was understandably very upset. She was crying. What did the noble Christians do? I don’t even think they said they would pray for her. They bitched behind her back that she didn’t have enough faith. If she did she would not be upset that he died.

I am much more a fan of Dawkins then Hichens and Harris so I am not horribly offended at that aspect.
One thing really bothered me and that is the treatment of Ayaan Hirsi Ali. It sounds like he is saying, "Oh so she didn't like living under Islam and being mutilated well I guess that is just her personal opinion. I am sure many other girls just love it."
