4. Richard Dawkins slaps creationists into the primordial soup

Comment #214151 by adk on July 19, 2008 at 6:34 pm

I cannot even listen to Alister McGrath's voice, it is so painful. "And it seems to me..." Ugh.

5. Bush Bureaucrats at Dept. of Health and Human Services Redefine Contraception as Abortion

Comment #213118 by adk on July 18, 2008 at 7:25 am

suffolkthinker:

"Every sperm is sacred..."

Haha I totally started singing that too when I was reading the article! Anyways I think it's something like 25-50% of pregnancies end in spontaneous abortion - I wonder what their position is on that?

8. IT'S A GODDAMNED CRACKER!

Comment #206862 by adk on July 8, 2008 at 10:51 pm

This is hilarious. Reminds me of this line from 'The Important of Being Earnest' :

Jack: Do you mean to say you have had my cigarette case all this time? I wish to goodness you had let me know. I have been writing frantic letters to Scotland Yard about it. I was very nearly offering a large reward.

9. Dawkins on Darwin

Comment #206860 by adk on July 8, 2008 at 10:46 pm

Hahaha, my absolute favourite part was listening to Richard reading the hate mail and when he said "You suck!" I just laughed, loved it haha. Also enjoyed the rest of the interview, too! :)

11. Conversation between Richard Dawkins and John Lennox

Comment #206831 by adk on July 8, 2008 at 9:23 pm

I feel sorry for John Lennox, poor guy! Maybe he is actually trying to be critical on his faith but he gets hopelessly hung up on the simplest questions. He really had nothing at all to say, and I don't think he even listened to anything Richard said at all, Richard said something and right away he was like "No!"

12. When too much Rapture is barely enough

Comment #205147 by adk on July 6, 2008 at 4:54 pm

I took a Greek mythology course last year, and during it I often thought how far we as a civilization had come since then, but every once in a while, I'm not so sure..

15. Award-winning comedian George Carlin dies

So unexpected! And very sad, he will be missed, a very funny man.

The report confirmed that Freshwater burned crosses onto students' arms, using an electrostatic device, in December.

Oh my god! Seriously?! I hope they do something about him, really.

20. Pastors Challenge Law, Endorse Candidates From Pulpit

Comment #196984 by adk on June 20, 2008 at 8:36 pm

"If you are a Christian, you cannot support a candidate like Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton for president."

"Why not?"

"Because!"

22. Muslim countries win concession regarding religious debates

Comment #196387 by adk on June 19, 2008 at 8:48 pm

Uh oh, wouldn't want to offend, or anything. Seriously, does the UN do ANYthing nowadays?

23. Teen's death blamed on faith healing

Comment #196386 by adk on June 19, 2008 at 8:46 pm

So many of my friends are Christian, and one of them finds faith healing so amazing. She'll tell me stories she's heard from so-and-so who heard from someone else who was there that God gave an amputtee legs by the end of the service, or fingers, or whatever. I'm like, are you kidding! I don't at all understand how she can at all think that actually happens - and she's a science major like me!

24. Darwinists for Jesus

Comment #195763 by adk on June 18, 2008 at 6:59 pm

I guess this is good in some ways, like my younger sister is very Christian and I know she has a hard time understanding what to make of her own bad behvaiour, because admitting she has flaws means admitting the creator has flaws, which is not allowed. So I guess if more religious people thought this way, that would be better.
This is one thing that I really don't like about religion though, is how difficult she's finding it to just love herself, good and bad.

25. Divine Impulses: Ayaan Hirsi Ali

Comment #192633 by adk on June 13, 2008 at 6:08 pm

Wow she is such an incredible woman. So cool to see her and hear her after reading Infidel, I really look up to her.

26. Intelligent people 'less likely to believe in God'

Comment #192370 by adk on June 12, 2008 at 10:18 pm

Professor Lynn said most primary school children believed in God, but as they entered adolescence - and their intelligence increased - many started to have doubts.

So there may be hope for my little sister yet! She's become quite the Christian since I moved out for school.

On the plus side, Pastor Ted is now welcome at Rick Warren's church on Sunday.

Hah! No way, he was 'cured' right, after like 4 months of intensive therapy or something? Reminds me of this catchy song:

I would hate to be on the firing end of a letter like this. I wish I could write a letter as clearly as Dawkins wrote this one!

33. Are Darwin's Theories Fact or Faith Issues?

Comment #159693 by adk on April 12, 2008 at 9:38 pm

Oh wow. Poor PZ! He probably thought he was there for a serious debate. Turned out to be a re-hashing of the same old creationist arguments - Simmons just doesn't stop!

34. Get out of here, atheists!

Comment #159077 by adk on April 11, 2008 at 12:17 pm

Hey, I saw on the PZ Myers blog that she gave Sherman a private apology. Apparently she was having an off day and shouldn't have taken her frustrations out on him.. The full story is here:

I hope you'll join me in publicly denouncing Ms. Davis' bigotry, using your real name. We can't afford to merely complain to each other here - the "real world" needs to hear from us. Stand up and be counted!

Hear, hear! Liked the letter. Am writing mine now.

37. Get out of here, atheists!

Comment #156373 by adk on April 7, 2008 at 12:23 pm

How did she go from the issue at hand (government money going to a church) to atheists practically handing out guns to kids at school? Unbelieveable! Am definitely writing a letter or something.

38. Happy Birthday, Richard Dawkins!

39. Richard Dawkins on The Alan Colmes Show

Comment #144004 by adk on March 14, 2008 at 9:02 pm

I've only ever heard Richard lose his temper when he's asked that exact question, to show examples of transitionary fossils (or, even worse, transitionary organisms around today, as one caller demanded on a show in the UK I heard). But no wonder he does, how much more ridiculous can it get! I love the radio call-in shows though, my favourite part is hearing RD totally debunk everything that's thrown at him! Go Richard! :)
