2. They let anybody onto the faculty at Oxford nowadays
Comment #60872 by Omnibus on August 3, 2007 at 3:27 am
Does anybody else think that Roger Stanyard's post is worth a thread in itself, and for us Brits is indicative of why we should be getting the truth about these groups into the public arena asap?
3. Baby's 'miracle' recovery in British hospital to give Malta its first saint
Comment #44521 by Omnibus on May 25, 2007 at 3:37 am
This surgeon needs to be asked what mechanisms he could think off could lead to the recovery. If one is the intervention of dead catholic office holders, he needs to take a good look at himself, and take some gardening leave.

Quite incredible. There is no ether, and you are beyond all help. On reading the comments, I can't help but feel its a very good satire. I hope it is.

Incitement may be a valid offence, but critical comment that is clearly based on a rational analysis,or an artistic expression of an opinion considered unholy really don't come close to incitement. The right to do these things must be protected, which Blair and his cronies are loathe to do.
6. Secular fundamentalists are the new totalitarians

I do not recognise the world Mr Jones describes. The Believers have been banging on about all sorts in public debate as long as I can remember (I am 40), and all the time oozing moral superiority, remember the "debate" Palin and Cleese had with Muggeridge and a Bishop over the life of Brian?
And as for wishing to drive them into the closet (this martyrdom complex I also find distasteful as it tries to appropriate the experience of homosexuals whom owe the church much in the way of misguided and misplaced shame) it is a blatant misreading of Dawkins. That religion must take its rightful place in the world of ideas is not to ban it, or its expression, but merely to remove its halo of moral and historical authority. It is to secularise society properly.
7. Executing Saddam Hussein was an Act of Vandalism

Saddam was also privy to information certain western Governments might not have fancied getting into the public domain. We are become what we despise.

Does Prof. Conway-Morris come here do you think? I wonder how he will respond to this context for his views.
