You scored 100% Beginner, 100% Intermediate, 93% Advanced, and 73% Expert!
Hmmmm, might try it again after not having a few glasses of wine, not sure which of the numbers might change though. Great fun.

My email has been sent.
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when I first read this story. I've now decided!
PZ, you have my very best wishes in all this nonsense.

Do they have those leaflets advertising their revolting exhibition in nearby hotels and restaurants etc? I think we know what we should do.
If I lived nearby, I think I would just have discovered a whole new hobby.

I read the title of this thread too quickly, and I picked up the "on" as an "is".
Actually, on reflection, I'd like to suggest that for Richard's next job, when he retires from the Charles Simonyi post. :)

If Richard can do a whole lecture in 20 seconds, there should be some good content in tonight's 5-second Dr Who appearance. Excellent.
I'm also voting for more audio. Oh, we weren't doing a poll? sorry...

He answered that on his website blog thing. Apparently when he said elements, he wasn't referring to "elements".
I hope that's all cleared up now then.
I've posted a few comments there, he just keeps censoring them out of existence. Saves him the bother of answering the points raised I guess. And they were all polite and restrained too, which was some effort.
And I chuckled over your "inane fuckwitery statements."

Just put the text in between blockquote and /blockquote tags, and let the site's CSS file do the rest.

Hi Yomin
quote -
"Yes, please don't post inane comments on my blog."
Ah. By inane, you must mean 'contradictory'. It's not inane to suggest that someone take a close look at all human understanding of science.
In your follow up article you state
"Logical scientists who aren't afraid to look at the issue are coming around all the time and there is a huge increase in the number and % of believing scientists in the last 20 years. I'll get the link soon."
Then you post this
This article cites the clear growth of believers among scientists:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24669748/
I'm not sure if I'm missing something here, but I don't see that this link proves your point at all. It does say
"Many people worldwide believe. In the United States, the percentage of the population without a religious affiliation is increasing but the majority still have one, according to American Religious Identification Survey 2001."
and
"Yet many scientists quot; 40 percent according to a 1997 poll cited by Shermer quot; believe in God. This isn't big news to scientists, "
(Sorry I don't know how to do these fancy quote boxes)
But the link you've posted doesn't show any evidence of a HUGE increase in the number and % of believing scientists in the last 20 years. Or any increase.
I'm happy to stand corrected if you can point out my error here.

I posted a (waspish, but polite) comment on his website here
https://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=28865181&postID=5318482483331515627&page=1
which said he should firstly read some science books, think about it all, form some valid opinions and THEN write articles.
He removed it.
And all the others, except one.
What a pity he's not popping in here for a quick chat.

You're right. I'm sorry - I took mispresentation personally and responded in kind. Today's letter page in the Daily Telegraph is a far better contribution to the debate. Forgive me. It won't happen again. GP"
So that was quite nice of him, I thought.

Unless, of course those are your real sunglasses Richard, in which case, they're fine. Honestly. Really great.
I've seen stork nests and they are pretty big, the sort of size that could hold an average baby I should think, so until we have more evidence I'm just going to be a fence-sitting TSP, Temporary Storknostic in Practice. Woolly-minded I know.

I'm so pleased to see Last Chance on this list. It's my favourite of DNA's books too, though different to the writing style I fell in love with when reading Hitchhikers. I have it signed by both authors, so it's the book I plan to grab if I suddenly find my house is on fire. :)

I am fairly new to this place and am blown away. I thought for over 50 years I was alone. I am frankly terrified of all fundamentalist religions and KNOW we are headed for real trouble. The crazies in the mideival Middle-East, I'm afraid, will continue to intensify and strengthen the the will of the other mindless fundamentalists here in the USA.
But, thank the LARD I read TGD - it led me here. My question: several have mentioned a movie or documentary "Religion, the Root of All Evil". Where??? Or is it a book? I guess I need to google.
