1. Top 6 Incestuous Relationships In The Bible

Comment #185462 by JimJ on May 27, 2008 at 9:26 pm

I wish someone would make a movie and call it "The Uncensored Scriptures" or something like that. Make it like a big biblical epic in the vein of The Ten Commandments or Ben-Hur, but instead of the run of the mill stories like Jesus and Moses it would focus on shit like this.

Thanks for the suggestion, if you can call it that. Sounds terrible but I'll probably give it a look, out of morbid curiousity if nothing else.

If you want to actually see some of this insanity, the film Jesus Camp is extremely disturbing as it shows young children being indoctrinated in a very similar environment to the one described in the excerpt. I'd also recommend the film Hell House to see more of the brainwashing tactics that these people employ.

This is one of the funniest things I've ever read. How in the hell can a person hear a sentence like "In the name of Jesus Christ I cast out the demon of anal fissures" and not burst out laughing and realize that the whole thing is utterly absurd. The alchoholic clown story made me literally roar with laughter.

Also, Andrew, I don't agree with equating "faith in the band" with faith in God, as there is no harm in enjoying a concert in an arena filled with like minded people. I went to see Bruce Springsteen last Sunday and had the time of my life, dancing, screaming and singing along like a lunatic. There are certainly links to be made between the rock concert experience and the religious experience, but the difference is that I go home and go back to normal. I don't worship Bruce Springsteen, I don't think his songs are holy gospels. Nor do I think it's a good idea to ostracize or ridicule people who may prefer a different musician, or people who don't like music at all. The people Matt described hold some seriously fucked up beliefs that are going to determine how they live their entire lives and the way they behave towards others, my belief that Springsteen is one of the greatest lyricists to ever live determines nothing about my life other than what gets the most play on my MP3 player.

I had a teacher senior year who might as well have been a preacher, when we weren't working (it was a masonry class) he was constantly preaching. He even talked about being in some town that was "full of fags" and how he wished someone would drop a bomb on it. Everyone else in the class was of the same beliefs so speaking up would've meant being ostracized. Looking back, I really wish I would've told him off. I'm ashamed to say that there was a time when I was starting to fall for his bullshit, thankfully I came to my senses. As far as I know, no crosses were burned into anyone. Actually, aside from his insane religious views, he was a really nice guy.
