Wonderful - I could be proud, except I know how rare such enterprise is. I salute all involved.

2. Creationism call divides Royal Society

I am with [Comment #247169 by Jonathan Dore] on this one, i think the more rational argument is well expressed here. We need to avoid witch-hunts and i would agree that Mr Reiss has his intellectual integrity nailed to a cross. He expressly did not however, call for creationism to be taught as science in the classroom. His promotion of creationism to a viable worldview is naive and dangerous in today religion-soaked world, as a result i think he should resign.

3. Have We Ever Faced An Enemy More Stupid Than Muslim Terrorists?

Excellent article - terrorism has always given legimatacy to young, largely ignorant men - give them a cause, as long as they don't have to think too hard about it, they become expendable weapons. Hopefuly they will remain as incompetant as they are vile.

I am really disturbed by this article. Intelligent-Design/Creationism is simply the product of lazy minds. Of people who would rather not question their assumptions and beliefs and take everything they already believe to be true as immutable. It has no place in any classroom except a comparative-religion elective. Any student who has these ridiculous beliefs should be shown using the masses of evidence just why they are manifestly and fundamentally flawed. This may get them thinking and i am sure it can be done in a way that is not disrespectful to the students personally - but screw respect for their beliefs.

The poor man - and the poor kids. I don't think this is a purely American problem either. The article i thought was very good but not very encouraging.

6. Charlie Brooker's screen burn

I had the misfortune of sitting through this horse-shit - even the 'atheist' annoyed me. What we needed there as part of the group was someone with enough knowledge to stick it to those sanctimonious arse-holes. Good article though.

7. On TV: The Genius of Charles Darwin: Presented by Richard Dawkins

Comment #223532 by ingodwerust on August 2, 2008 at 4:24 pm

I would like to have seen Richard trot across the room and throttle that ignorant little bastard with his 'holy book'. How does he put up with that level of willful ignorance and not despair? It's shocking to think that someone so young can have the thought process completely removed by his up-bringing.

Seriously, just what the fuck is going on in America? This is the country of Paine, Ingersoll and Stanton - just what would they think if they knew that the battles they fought are still not won.

9. The BBC announces a major season marking the life and work of Charles Darwin

Comment #207377 by ingodwerust on July 9, 2008 at 3:34 pm

Just what we need. 2009 should be a great year, not just from the bbc. The whole country should be celebrating Darwin's legacy. I look foward to a cacophany of real science discussion and great media - i also look forward to the religious nuts going wild.

10. When too much Rapture is barely enough

I think these people could believe anything, how can they justify such nonsense? The religious consistently stagger me in the ability for delusion.
