1. McDonald's Makes Jesus Cry

"YOU DID NOT BILD YOUR COMPANY ON HOMOSEXUAL PEOPLE! IT WAS BUILD ON FAMILY VALUES! MAN,WIFE.CHILDREN!MOSTLTY CHILDREN! THEY DON'T COME FROM HOMO PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

That's all that needs to be said about the people boycotting McDonald's.

But I'll say more...Family values? I swore McD's succeeded because of capitalism, iono...

"I suppose next the playground will be open for pedifiles in order to not offend them."

Here in grown-up society, we call that a church.

2. Christians challenge teaching of evolution

Comment #205366 by davemei on July 7, 2008 at 7:39 am

claiming the universe is too perfect to have been produced by chance so must be the work of an intelligent designer.

Really? TOO Perfect?

I beg to differ. What kind of perfect world has eagles hunting mice and fish, earthquakes that leaves thousands homeless, drought that starves millions, hurricanes that flood countrysides, sunlight that gives you cancer, etc etc etc....

I'd have less disresprect for them if they didn't mince words and aren't so damned arrogant, but alas, fools are always proud and so certain of themselves.

4. Opponents of Evolution Adopting a New Strategy

Comment #188771 by davemei on June 4, 2008 at 2:03 pm

Dr. McLeroy believes that Earth's appearance is a recent geologic event â€" thousands of years old, not 4.5 billion. "I believe a lot of incredible things," he said, "The most incredible thing I believe is the Christmas story. That little baby born in the manger was the god that created the universe."

But Dr. McLeroy says his rejection of evolution â€" "I just don't think it's true or it's ever happened" â€" is not based on religious grounds.

Wait, what? Your basis for believing that the universe is about, I don't know, 6,000 years old...is NOT religious? You think the universe is created, but that claim is not based on Christianity? These folks are not just lying to themselves, they're lying to the public.

Courts have clearly ruled that teachings of faith are not allowed in a science classroom, but when he considers the case for evolution, Dr. McLeroy said, "it's just not there."

Oh, ok..it makes sense now. He's just trying to hide behind a veil.

"Science, I mean, evolution, in this case, can be misleading. We should, um, teach young earth science, because there is an equally valid non-religious explanation for it."

Damnit! Why'd it to be texas again. I never ran into any of this...

It's a shame. I have a feeling I'll be fighting for my kids to get a secular education.

This guy doesn't deserve his certification to practice medicine...much less his degree.

You have a good reason for paying to see this crap. I've been wrestling with it myself. I don't want to give them money, but every time I criticize the "film" to the xians, they say: "Have you even seen the movie?". They have a point. I'm hoping one of my xian friends will rent it and loan it to me. I AM willing to pay for the barf bags myself.

Ermm....you could always...download it. =P

If the 3 sock puppets weren't tripping over themselves and grabbing obscure arguments from the air, I would have been able to finish. It was painful to watch.

I feel ashamed to be an American at times like this. Way to go folks! Lets add to our stereo type of being fat and stupid.

I firmly believe Americans are the best at everything. No one can beat us as idiots, bigots, frivolous, or lazy.

Let's keep reverting back to religion and suppress intelligence and discovery. Let's see how that works out.

11. Six 'uniquely' human traits now found in animals

Comment #185192 by davemei on May 27, 2008 at 7:17 am

I thought all these traits were given to us by god and that's what makes us unique. I mean other animals with morality, come on. That would mean we're not as special as we think. hmmmm

Not only are we not unique in regard to traits, we are also lacking when it comes to physical attributes. It's not surprising that a cheetah can outrun a human or that a bear is stronger...but SHRIMPS have better vision?? We are far from being perfect.

12. That's it. Texas really is doomed.

Comment #185183 by davemei on May 27, 2008 at 6:46 am

The American south is not only strange and primitive it is bigoted, racist, segregationist, separatist and still fighting the civil war.

Really FF your sweeping statements about the US are as irational as those you accuse others of.

And we all ride horses to work and school.

No...I'm pretty sure that god issued the boney plate armor to the sticklebacks, providing safety from the trout and other fish that used to feed on them

...though...it sucks for the trout....

as flawed as most justice systems may be these days...it sure beats a society where you can literally point to some one as a rapist/thief/murderer/witch(?) and that person would probably be burned/stone/hung quicker than you can pick out a jury.

18. 85% of Americans Want a Presidential Debate on Science

Comment #179540 by davemei on May 13, 2008 at 11:30 am

Even though I would be a proponent, I think there is a very small chance something like this will actually happen. If there were to be a debate about stem cell research, nuclear technology, renewable energy...there is gonig to be a candidate who is going to affirm one of the topics and potentially piss off their constituents. While I'm sure most of Americans want to see such a debate, I'm also fairly confident that most Americans will be quick to criticize the candidates when they hear something they don't like. Not many politicians would want to take that risk.

19. Americans pray at the pump for cheaper petrol

Comment #179400 by davemei on May 13, 2008 at 8:00 am

First time user here...

I read this article and I was floored. I initially thought about how absolutely ridiculous and ignorant these religious nuts are.

They have no idea what actually goes into the production or refinement of pretoleum and the factors that determine the price. As I understand it, most of the crude oil in the world are not in pockets of conventional oil. 2/3 of crude is stored in the form of oil sands, which make it difficult to extract. So, there is a lot of oil left, but gas/petro will become much more expenssive in the near future.

Apparently, crude oil is so expensive that drivers are not the only people who a feeling the sting in their wallets. Companies who are primarily refiners (Valero), or have no upstream capabilities, are operating at a loss because they would have to sell gas at $5.00 a gallon to be profitable, gas prices havent even come close to aligning with the price of crude. The only reason why Shell and ExxonMobil are reaping in profits is because they have the upsteam capabilities. They own the rigs and also the refineries and retail points.

OH..and also, here is another link (also from UBM) that illustrates how some folks pray for resolution to the most trivial issues. It's just as funny if not funnier that the previous link about God fixing some guys alignment.
