1. ELECTION DAY IN THE USA. GO VOTE.

My hope is Obama is a closet secularist, or least will be on if he ever gives it serious consideration. He strikes me as keep religion out of governing, but time will tell.
2. ELECTION DAY IN THE USA. GO VOTE.

Voted early, before today. I've been on the phone providing reminders and polling place information. My wife is still canvassing in a swing-state, across the river.

I am American. I have been working with the Obama campaign here in the Bible Belt. There is a lot of ignorance and racism as well, but I think we've got the numbers. Everyone is working hard to get the vote out, while dealing inadequate and limited voting machines in some areas, as the turn-out is suppose to be huge.
Relationships for me have gotten quite strained as I continue to use reason in these confrontations and concerns.
So many are raised not to think, but to believe. Their lives are embodied in these social norms. Even our news has very little objective comment when it comes to the discussion of a god or gods.
There is a lot of disinformation which is being propagated around and specifically within these groups.
4. YouTube Reinstates Pat Condell

YouTube is a commercial entity. Its merely "bad business" when they get called on their unbalanced censorship. Those of us familiar with the company before it was swallowed up by Google clearly see the distinction. Its no longer about expression, but about the bottom-line, which is fine as that is what it is, they just shouldn't represent it otherwise. Richard Dawkins is very gracious as well he can be in the individual case, however the reversal of their decision probably has more to do with the exposure it was given, rather than their any grander principle.

YouTube cares little about freedom of speech. They are merely a commercial driven enterprise. They will tell you this themselves.

9. Anthropologists Develop New Approach To Explain Religious Behavior

I've always wondered how generally cognitive beings can cling to superstitions. A sense of belonging, of happiness in relationships I suppose this makes sense. Relationships which are perceived to be secure or somehow fill a need are behaviors common to all of us. Minds don't seem to be exercised enough these days.

I liked the article for its content.
I also like the fact that I was introduced to Johann Hari and BFKate.
BFKate:
Opinions are not "sticks and stones," but tools with which to understand the thoughts and ideas of others. Your personal perspective was interesting led to a greater review, so for me, it was beneficial. The friction that followed was a bit harsh, but understood in that context.

Todd Bentley was in prison for sexually molesting a seven year old boy. A predator at an early age. Seems in prison he has learned to fine tune his assault with noise rather than boys. BAM, BAM, BAM... foolish people.

What an amazingly funny man and more importantly such a free thinker. I think of George and a grin instantly comes to my face every time. You made us laugh at ourselves and at the same time look at ourselves more seriously too, not that we should be taken that way.
