1. 'Intelligent' computers put to the test

"What is the subject I wonder if I think?"
That sounds so bad, it reeks computer logic failing to understand a sentence that barely makes sense (What is the subject, do you think?).

What scares me, deeply, is that these fucktards will become crazed suicidal soldiers for jeebus at the flick of a switch, and start their beloved armageddon.
And one of them could be the vice president of one of the most powerful nations in the world?

Not true. Servant of Allah means she is a slave to an imaginary being. And because she has faith, she will always be a slave, thus a servant. Not the other way around.

Comment #205381 by alfonso on July 7, 2008 at 7:58 am
"Now that the Anglicans plan to allow women bishops, there is a fear that clergy will defect to the Vatican and Rome"
Only with religion would people voluntarily choose to cut their own rights when freedoms are given.
In this case this is even worse, they'd risk their eternal souls (they believe they have them) to change religion just because their leaders finally realize/accept that women are actually equal and decide to act upon it.
They are just a bunch of despicable bigots, they should have no power, and certainly no funding from any democratic state.

On the other hand, I see absolutely nothing sexual about the starbucks logo. And I am well known as a sick perv among friends and family!

Comment #166264 by alfonso on April 23, 2008 at 4:21 am
If, as a Jew, I decide to adhere to totally irrational dietary laws or bizarrely not travel on a bus on Saturday, does that make me an extremist? If I go further and wear a kippa on my head and build an eruv around the part of London in which I live, is that an unacceptable excess?
20. Richard Dawkins' secular army must be stopped. God is behind some of our greatest art
Comment #160371 by alfonso on April 14, 2008 at 2:08 am
I am tired of atheism being compared to a religion, or the respect towards Dawkins being considered worship.
Who says that Dawkins is worshiped? Revered? If he says something I disagree with, I'll speak out and let whoever cares to listen to me know about my position, much like with everyone else.
Believers do not understand this kind of relationship with other human beings and therefore, it must be worship? How naive of them. Again, that seems to be the way they learn to deal with others, when they are 'superiors' they are to be 'worshiped'.
21. German Church admits aiding Nazis
Comment #158174 by alfonso on April 10, 2008 at 7:09 am
Of course Hitler was a Christian, no matter what you find out later on. In the same logic that M. Theresa was not an atheist. Regardless of the fact that she did not believe god existed. She said she was a believer so she must have been!
Oh wait, does that make Hitler a what? And M. Theresa a huh?
Falcon, the moral, ethically correct position of the catholic church should have been to oppose what the government was doing. Regardless of personal consequences. That is what being ethical is all about, specially when one is religious it should be easier, with the afterlife and all.
Whether or not this would have stopped the war, saved any number of people in germany or otherwise improved the lives of anybody is totally irrelevant. If you are a committed member of the church, all of that amounts to nothing, for it is to be compared with infinite divine reward in the afterlife.
End of story.
But...
if you consider that all of that is a fairy tale maintained by smart power-hungry men who know how to manipulate others into false beliefs, then it all makes sense, the actions of the church make perfect sense... when you realize it is all man made make-believe.
Salud!

It is also my right to be offended (and enlightened) by others which is at stake. Without this, there is no progress.
But of course, religions are all about stopping progress.
It is a stupid stone, worshipped by stupid followers of a stupid religion.
But because our society is poisoned by the deadly 'respect towards faith' we are going to let them crush our rights until it is too late.

It is a great article, to be honest, with a very clear, concise and distinctive way of expressing maybe not very complex concepts, but still, concepts that are hard to grasp: how do we know certain things from fossils?
We might not have been there to see it happen, but there is so much we can tell with enormous certainty.
I find this much more beautiful and interesting than any biblical 'truths'.

From Wordnet:
The noun fraud has 3 senses (first 3 from tagged texts)
1. (5) fraud -- (intentional deception resulting in injury to another person)
2. (2) imposter, impostor, pretender, fake, faker, fraud, sham, shammer, pseudo, pseud, role player -- (a person who makes deceitful pretenses)
3. (2) fraud, fraudulence, dupery, hoax, humbug, put-on -- (something intended to deceive; deliberate trickery intended to gain an advantage)
And as far as I know, fraud is a crime. How come this people get away with it?

So what this guy is saying:
There is a clear account of horrible historical facts of mass murdering, hatred, oppresion which is directly to blame to religion. But, I like religion, so it can't be religion. I am 'sure' this would happen all along without the word god (how do you know this?). It must be something else.
The usual white cheque to religion to be one of the greatest evils for this planet, and somehow get away with it.
