1. Stoning victim 'begged for mercy'

Those responsible are not people. They are animals and nothing more. I don't believe I could be more disgusted right now.

Sweet, merciful crap.
3. Dawkins: a theologian's perspective
Comment #261055 by Isherwood on October 6, 2008 at 11:20 am
I read through #3, though I'm not sure why. This sums up the article nicely:
"Aquinas presents [his arguments]... as confirmations of faith rather than proofs of it."
Huh? So a "confirmation" is simply an intellectual pat on the back that has no real substance other than emotional security? What a load of steaming poop.
4. The God Delusion's cameo in season premiere of 'Family Guy'

I got a hearty laugh out of that scene. I think I may have actually cheered aloud. I'm glad my wife tolerates me so well. :-)
5. Ministers to Defy I.R.S. by Endorsing Candidates

Better yet, it's time to end taxpayer subsidy altogether. Let them claim tax returns for their charitable work like everyone else, and thus close the loopholes that we know many slip through.
6. 'All Terrorists are Darwinists': An Interview with Harun Yahya

Yeah, he certainly doesn't get the lack of motive a "Darwinist" (gods, I hate that word) would have.
"...my sales figures are many times higher. They have doubled."
*snort!* Nothing like a little characteristic exaggeration to build a case.
7. Art teacher made student pray to Jesus for forgiveness

As a long time Zombie fan I'm outraged that...
Wait, that may not be the best way to start my post. You have said it all already. I agree.
8. Why we evolved to be superstitious
Comment #245852 by Isherwood on September 11, 2008 at 1:13 pm
Bruno, I took it that attributing a superstition to a noise or other occurrence tends to make the event into something more fearful, increasing the likelihood of avoiding danger.
In other words, if a primitive person hears sounds at night, decides that they're from a demon or ghost, he's more likely to clear out of the area, preventing something more common like a lion attack from occurring. This assumes, of course, that the demon is more fear-inducing than the lion.

Agreed, Lenny. I was so thrilled with his interview that I was ready to stand up and cheer.
Then he proclaimed that atheists are "certain there is no god". That turned my stomach. I'd think of anyone, he would have a better definition of atheism.
Still, bravo, and kudos to Mr. King for a fair and interesting interview.
10. Charlie Brooker's screen burn

This type of article brings a lump to my throat and a fist to my fingers. I shake it in disbelief and disgust at those with their heads in the sand. How can anyone with a conscious mind deny it? It's truly baffling!
But you all know that.
11. Flatfish Fossils Fill In Evolutionary Missing Link
Comment #208648 by Isherwood on July 11, 2008 at 5:51 am
Dhamma, the old joke is that fundies claim adding a peg to the fossil board creates two new gaps between it and it's nearest neighbors. This way, there will always be gaps, no matter how short or insignificant. It's desperation at it's lamest.
