1. Disproving Conventional Wisdom On Diversity Of Marine Fossils And Extinction Rates

Comment #210473 by themarkhasbeenmade on July 14, 2008 at 4:22 pm

That is the one thing about science that I've always enjoyed; when new info is discovered and presented, the scientific community looks at it and then changes the the old info to reflect the new data.

There is an 'overall good' in proving conventional wisdom wrong.

2. Christians challenge teaching of evolution

I completely understand the need to not be dogmatic and to teach different perspectives; in most subjects this is true; philosophy, art, music, culture, martial arts, new technology; all can be done and taught in different ways.
HOWEVER, why is it that when people criticize
evolution they

a) never have a proper understanding of it

b) want to interject their own version of it

c) when they talk about 'different perspectives',
they only want the Christian perspective taught.

If these people were truly for open discussion, they would at least consider the Hindu version, The old Greek gods, the Mayan, Aztec, Olmec, Inca, the tribes of Australia, the Native Americans and hundreds more.
