1. George W Bush meets Pope amid claims he might convert to Catholicism

Given the Catholoic church's history of torture, murder, execution and oppressing anyone who disagrees with them, Bush should fit right in.

I wonder if Catholic convert Blair had anything to do with it. Maybe they struck a deal. Blair helps Bush murder Iraqis and Bush joins Blair at the biggest lunatic asylum outside the Mormons.

2. Petrol pump pilgrims keep faith

If God wants to lower the price of fuel then why on earth did he tell Bush to invade Iraq, which made the price shoot up. I wish the almighty one would make up his mind.

3. We need to stop being such cowards about Islam

I find it interesting that Johan Hari writes a column describing the 50 'Prophet' Mohammad's relationship with a six year old girl and doesn't use the word which must be running around all his readers minds. That word being paedophile.
Talking about cowardice is all very well and of course it is important to raise the subject of self-censorship in relation to religion, since it appears to be so prevalent. However, it could be said that Hari is just as guilty of doing what he accuses society of doing.
Of course, if he had of stated the the 'Prophet' Mohammad was a paedophile then he probably would have had a death sentence imposed on him. And yet would a statement like that be anything less than the truth? Well, no it wouldn't. And I've got the Qu'ran to prove it.

4. How can the Earth be so perfectly suited for life by coincidence?

Comment #232150 by andymorton on August 17, 2008 at 5:25 pm

The idea that the earth is perfectly suited for life is a complete fallacy.
Two-thirds of the planet is covered by water on which humans, not to mention the majority of other speccies, cannot survive. Of the one-third remaining a substantial proprotion consists of areas which are either far too hot, like deserts, or far too cold, like the Arctic, to live on.
As I write this there is news footage of a hurricane in Florida. Along with earthquakes, volcano eruptions, floods and other natural disasters, (I hesitate to use the words Act of God), even the densely population parts of the globe are hostile to our survival. Add to this all the viruses and infectious diseases which are capable of killing us, and we must surely realise that conditions on this planet are anything but perfectly suited for life.
