I justed watched this week's episode of the TV show called "The Universe" its on the History channel every Tuesday at 9pm. This week they ran an episode called "Alien Faces" and were speculating what life would look like on other planets. Specifically they mentioned a theoretical planet that had about 3x the gravity of earth, but at the same time had 60% more oxyogen.
It was really cool. You all should check it out if you haven't seen it yet.

"But you can look to God. We believe he can change the minds and hearts of men and women in power, and that's what we tried to do today."
Really, god can actually do this? Can he prove that? Would Rev Ellis like to put to a test? Of course not. god can never be questioned, only praised. Will it ever stop?
"I have had to go to the bathroom for three days now, 'god can you help me here, can you give me a little help with my plumbing, I mean you designed the damn system, can you give me a little help god'"

Can you blame them really for wanting a so called god out of our government?
Will believers ever "get it?" Will they ever understand why having god and or religion within the public domain is not good for society? It just creates conflict!
"God's role in protecting state and country" are you kidding me?
I don't know what else to say, other than that I am not suprised by reading this, not the legislation that is being taken, but rather the bumpkin's who still think god actually cares about Kentuckians.

I am in the banter phase of the debate and I must admit the Wilson gentlemen is rather simplistic. Just because he thinks that there would be no meaning, no beauty without god, doesn't mean that there is a god.
Hitchens is really easily mopping the floor with him.
6. 'Imagine No Religon' Billboard Only Lasts a Few Days in Rancho Cucamonga
Comment #290074 by ksskidude on November 24, 2008 at 2:55 pm
They responded to my email with the following!
Thank you so much for your inquiry regarding the "No Religion" billboard
and the media's coverage regarding its removal. I am responding back to
your inquiry to clear up any misunderstandings and to make it clear that
the City of Rancho Cucamonga gave NO direction in the removal of that
billboard message, or any billboard message. In fact, the City does not
have any authority over the content of a billboard and the City does not
approve what is put up on a billboard and is not authorized to remove
billboard advertisements. The City of Rancho Cucamonga has NO role in
controlling billboard content.
The advertisement that you refer to could go up or down or changed
anyway the billboard company wishes to at any time like any other
billboard without any approval or permit by the City. These are purely
private sector business decisions with no input by the City.
For those who want to know why the billboard company put up a particular
advertisement, it would be appropriate to contact the billboard company.
Conversely, if one has questions regarding the removal of a particular
advertisement, the billboard company should be contacted. The City is
not responsible for any business decisions made by any billboard
company.
Again, I want to thank you for your email. The City of Rancho Cucamonga
appreciates your thoughts and concerns and I sincerely hope that this
response has answered your concerns.

7. Does Religion Make You Nice?
Comment #280469 by ksskidude on November 7, 2008 at 2:50 pm
I think its just ridiculous that in order for you to behave nice or act kind you have to have someone looking over your shoulder.
We don't give money to the homeless, we give them food. I don't give money to the religious because they are a bunch of hypocrites. I gave money to the "Atheist Bus Campaign," I gave money to the Obama campaign, and I am certainly not religious. It makes me laugh when someone says morals comes from the bible or from a belief in god.
People like Luara Schlessinger need to be laughed at, and ridiculed. She is an idiot!!
Just my two cents....

When will it ever end? Is there ever going to be a time in America when calling yourself an Atheist isn't considered a bad thing?
I personally have come out and made it very clear with my friends, with my family, and with whom I work with. This is not to say I am combative or even argumentative with them; I simply let it be known that I disagree with their particular belief's.
I fear that we will never see a shift in the attitudes of believers, if we do not let it be known that more of us do actually exist.
So please do not be afraid to speak out!!

I understand why most on here are angered and want to act quickly. It also angers me to know end. But suing the school would only bring more evangelicals together. We live in a very sensitive time and we atheist's need to make sure that we remain rational when confronted with lunacy and fanatics.
They want us to react angerily, and blow our lids. I think Riggs will do the right thing by contacting the ACLU and see what they say.
What this does though is remind me of how important it is for all of us to pound our keyboards, to write the letters to the editors about who we are, and how many there are of us.

This is not that hard to believe. I was watching a show this morning with my wife and one of the host on the show asked the question, or made the statement that people are still having trouble understanding why 9/11 happened in America.
If you have an understanding of radical Islamist, and you know that they were doing what they thought their god wanted them to do than its not hard to know why.
This article for me brings to light weher we msut start making changes among the believers of this world. Once they can start seeing evolution as true, maybe then they will start to ask more questions about the existence of a supernatural being.
It's bad enough that I have to sit and watch a candiadte for the second highest office in our country, who doesn't believe in evolution. If it were up to me, any perosn that didn't agree with today's scientific "truths", would be eliminated from any position of authority with our government. It undermines the scientific community and only leads to ignorance.
Now if they disagree and have actual evidence then that can be taken into consideration, but to deny the standards based off "I don't believe it" doesn't cut it!!!!

I live in MO and am a member of the MO Coalition For LifeSaving Cures www.missouricures.com
In 2006 we had to vote in MO whether or not SCNT should be allowed to continue. The Religious Right wanted to ban this process, make amyone who participated a felon, punishable up to 15 years in jail.
The vote only passed by 50k out of 4 million. needless to say, we are going to have to vote once again.
It astounds me at to what lengths these people will go to see the xtian agenda passed. I for one will not allow it, and will continue to do all I can to keep all forms of stem cell research legal.
SCNT will enable any sick patient to regenerate their own embryonic stem cells. This is why SCNT is so important; the cells are an exact gentic match, which means, no immune system rejection, which is huge.

I am so tired, and frustrated. Now the f*cking xtians have the US gov clearly on thier side. We are doomed. My country is a theocracy, and I'm in it up to my ears.
My wife and I are at our 1st Pregnacy Dr. visit today, and her nurse is wearing the cross around her neck. Just mocking me... Garton Ash needs a bit of boost. Is it me or does he speak incredibly slow? I understand wanting to articulate your words and also make sure that what you say is understood. But if I were to be a speaking coach for him, I would suggest to speak a little faster, with more voice inflection. Then maybe he would keep attentions, atleast mine.
My two cents...
I think Ayaan is fantastic, and hope she will always be okay!!!
41. Are the 'New Atheists' avoiding the 'real arguments'?
Comment #97670 by ksskidude on December 12, 2007 at 1:54 pm
And the Christian goes, "Huh?"
This just goes right over their heads. They simply are incapable of understanding that we get it. We understand what they are telling us, and preaching to us. We've read the bible, many of us have asked god to come in our lives. We took that "leap of faith," and still got zip, zilch, nada. Our hearts were open, but nothing came.
I often try to explain, that for every xtian, muslim, jew, hindu, etc... there is a different version, interpretation, meaning, truth's, that we atheist have to deal with.
There is always someone else who thinks the complete opposite of you, and yet are still believers in the basic tenants that were descibed by Standing in this article.
But with atheists you get the same answer, "non-belief in a god or gods." That's it.
We get it.

If Romney wins the Presidency, and it could happen people, we are screwed. I am honestly now afraid of what this country is, and has always been, a theocracy in hidding. This speech revealed the cloak of secrecy.

All the more reason to "Stand Out" and stand up for atheism. Religion is here to stay, and no matter how much we fight it, its not going anywhere. But if we all collectively start voicing our non-beliefs, we will have to be taken seriously, because we vote too.
We need to ask the tough questions of politicians, like: "Mrs. Clinton, why do you feel that Jesus is the tue God, and Allah is not?"

What Harris says all make sense, until we actually reach the point where we have a majority opinion, I think our position needs to be stated.
Before slavery was ended, and new states entered the union, many people were called free soilers, because they did not want more states to enter the union as slave states. Now that is a term that has no meaning today, but back in 1855 it was absolutely necessary!
