Just because you agree with the comment, doesn't mean it's true...

Your headline should speak "Killing a man responsible for the killing of nearly 2 million Iraqis is vandalism" – then your article will have a much different tone to it.
I must say first and foremost, I do admire your work and have 3 of your books. But I must still urge you before you go into such a tricky thing as middle-eastern policy, you should do your homework well.
I do profoundly agree in principle that the death penalty is wrong. And to that extent I agree with your article. But when a man is responsible for the aimless killing of nearly 2 million men, women and children then I certainly can make an exception! Not so much because of the penalty itself but to the closure it can provide his many victims, and an end to very bloody chapter in Iraq's history.
I did notice you referring to Saddam's regime as brutal. I do agree with you. But you cannot use a simple adjective to describe that regime. People who've been in the mercy of that regime do not simply stop by calling it brutal. It's simply beyond words.
I urge you to not only look at the headlines but instead dig dipper into the Iraq situation – and look at the facts. Do research and use other sources than the BBC or other news agencies with a clear left-winged agenda. That requires time but if you do that you can present a much more nuanced article than this one you've presented.
I dare to disagree with you on that regard because I'm tired of seeing highly intellectual
people chanting along with the choir of the many Sunni Arabs and insurgents who oppose the Saddam execution but at the same time never took time to think of his countless victims.
Many of them have not even set a foot in Iraq and they act to be an expert on that issue. And they attempt to reduce the entire situation to be about Sunni, Shia and the Bush administration. It's much more complicated than that.
The next time you write such an article be very wary of who you defend. You've probably had the best of intentions but this article is in favour of the insurgents, not its victims.
