1. Ten Politically Incorrect Truths About Human Nature

Comment #55132 by Dizzlski on July 10, 2007 at 4:45 am

It amuses me that so many people are throwing out "Then why don't I..." personal anecdotes as "proof" that these generalizations don't apply.

I was not trying to dispute any of the claims of the article. I was sincerely hoping someone here would have an answer or point me in the right direction. I'm very interested to know.

1. Men like blond bombshells.

What am I to make of the fact that I specifically do not find this type of woman attractive? I desire dark, short hair, small breasts, dark eyes and in spite of what the article states; find any sort of enhancement an extreme turn-off. Maybe my genes (which are of Scandinavian descent) just became bored with all the blonde hair. Am I wrong or did blonde hair only show up in humans 11,000 years ago (I may be thinking of red hair). If I am correct, are we really evolving so fast that this became so damned important? How do the authors of this article account for the massive populations of China and India?

3. Army to EO Reps: 'Discrimination Against Atheists OK'

As a member of the US Navy, and a non-believer, this disturbs me greatly. I get the feeling that were I to believe in one of the non-bible religions it wouldn't be any better. One simply has to spend 2 minutes in the chaplains office of the building I work in to see which religions they endorse. There are literally hundreds of christian publications, boxes upon boxes of little copies of the gospel and psalms; many in desert camouflage. There is one copy of the tanak, and no other religion is represented. Not to mention the multiple pamphlets scattered through out the building directing you to the chaplain or a church (christian) when experiencing loss or grief. And you cannot even imagine the anti-islamic grumblings I hear throughout many of the enlisted ranks.

Some people have been coming here for years in search of a miracle.

If only we could send them to school for years.

But ancient superstition is woven into the teachings of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church.

I didn't realize they were the only one.

This is appalling, so incredibly disgusting.

5. The Case for Teaching The Bible

Comment #28498 by Dizzlski on March 29, 2007 at 12:14 pm

This article is very USA centric, and living there I would agree knowledge of the bible is lacking. However there is another piece of writing in which knowledge is lacking and should have its own 'literacy' class - the constitution. I think any country's laws and rights should be first and foremost in education, and religious text not so much; those countries which have them overlap are unfortunate. If one just looks at the USA then the bible is a big part of political and personal life; however in the world of today the koran is more 'important', teaching just one holy book is negligent, as is teaching the history (of any country, idea, and the world) without including religious ideas and influences. A comparative religion class makes alot of sense and should be available as an elective.

This article conveniently leaves out the belief of Frosty Hardison that the earth is 14,000 years old. The end times comment is ridiculous enough on it's own I suppose.

To follow on the comment by coderifous; anyone who 'knows' of any sort of attack which would result in the death of one or one million and does nothing to prevent it has done nothing short of a criminal act.
