You know I'm not sure if Liberty U is accredited but I do know that our glorious leader George W, has at least a couple dozen graduates from Liberty law school in his administration.

Comment #40638 by ButteryAtheist on May 14, 2007 at 3:56 pm
Anybody want to keep a tally of the ratio of "Hitch is not Great" variations to "Dawkins' Delusions?"
This is already the second one of these I've seen today.

Yawn.
8. Lou Dobbs w/ Hitchens on Al Sharpton's Bigoted Remark
Comment #39396 by ButteryAtheist on May 10, 2007 at 1:48 pm
Does anybody know the status of Dobbs's religious beliefs or lack thereof? Couldn't find anything on ye olde wiki.
He seems to be a closet rationalist (other than the fact that he chooses to live in New Jersey).

This show used to come on late night sundays.
Sometimes I would fall asleep earlier in the evening with the TV on, and wake up to this.
It would reaaaally freak me out.
10. Study: Religion is Good for Kids
Comment #35193 by ButteryAtheist on April 26, 2007 at 2:25 pm
Any child -- religious or otherwise -- is going to be "obedient" if his/her "will is broken."
http://www.contracostatimes.com/news/ci_5755086
The church, which also runs the 200-student Bethel Christian Academy, discourages parents from using their hands and recommends using a "rod" or flexible stick to swat children until their will is broken.

This study OBVIOUSLY didn't involve Catholic schoolgirls. At least not the Catholic schoolgirls I grew up with.
12. Gay hate church to picket VT gun rampage funerals

Am I the only one who thinks the WBC *may* just be undercover atheists doing covert ops to undermine the Theist cause? ((shudder))
Not that I approve of this alleged tactic, but you couldn't invent a better way to make Christianity and homophobia appear more repulsive than these folks.
Or maybe they just really, really want [media] attention for attention's sake. That seems to be the "in" thing in America. If you're not famous (or infamous), you're nobody.
Protesting gay people's funerals wasn't provocative enough, so they started at soldiers' funerals. Then they tried to disrupt services for those poor little Amish girls. Now they've raised (or lowered) the bar even further.
Also, where does the money come from?
13. The Most Hated Family in America

Fred Phelps is neither crazy nor stupid.
He knows how many children he has (sired).
He HAD 13 children, 4 have left the "Church" and are estranged. That is why he did not give a straight answer to the interviewer.
WBC are plain and simple attention whores, mostly.
Most of what their shenanigans are coldly calculated ruses manufactured to get the most rise out of people and garner them media attention (and clients for their law practice most likely.)
While Fred Phelps may be harboring some latent homosexual tensions of his own, my sense is that as a group they care little about "preaching the gospel" or "condemning the sinners" at all, but only see this as a means to an end.
None of their Bible-thumping seems all that sincere to me. I think they're playing the whole world for fools.

Will someone please explain to me this guy's point?
Is he saying that because there are 2.1B Xtians and 1.3B Muzzes that we should just defer to their superstitions and allow them their crusades and murderous escapades?
Is he saying that because the 20th Century was both an era of much scientific progress and one of the most deadly, that scientific knowledge and discovery was the CAUSE of all that carnage and should cease?
Help a brotha out, yo.
