That God would choose to come among us in such a way is so strange, so inexplicable, so unbelievable, it compels us to believe.

So since is is unbelievable, it is believable? Yeah! I use the unbelievability of propositions as reasons to believe them all the time!

It is unbelievable that I got a 500% raise at work this year!

I really, really don't believe this, so it must be true!

Note how Sullivan explicitly sidesteps several of the issues Sam pointed out: inadequacies of the bible, ontological fancy footwork, ancient vs. current "miracles."

And of *course* the debate has strengthened Sullivan's existing delusion. Delusion is by definition resistant to evidence to the contrary.
