1. Sea reptile is biggest on record

Comment #135890 by Zelgadis on February 29, 2008 at 10:25 am

Wow, that thing was huge, and yet, Noah was able to fit them all in the ark. God is amazing!.

P.S.: Did anyone else get creeped out by that image or am I just a big wuss?. =D

"Who ever heard of a real University having a degree in something so.... well.... pointless?"

Uh... I think we all have, they're called Theology Degrees. n_n

3. The History of Creationist Thought

I thought it was amusing. It's just that the whole "ID'ers think it's magic" comedy bit has been done a lot, and this one didn't exactly offer any new material, plus the comedy was a little too subtle. Still worth watching. n_n

And on a slightly different note, is it just me or was the "interpretive dancer", John Oliver from "The Daily Show"?.

4. US Congressman Holds No God-Belief

Baby steps, Mikado, baby steps. =D hehe I mean, he did answer "Yes" to the statement "I'm a non-theist". So let's cut him some slack... for now. ^-^ I'm going to have to follow up on this.

5. Merkel wants EU to be vocal about Christian roots

Comment #23538 by Zelgadis on March 1, 2007 at 1:38 pm

"She added, however, that the European Union was not a 'Christian club' and stressed the need for tolerance of all religions in the bloc."

Of course, that's the typical religionist answer. Paying lip service to tolerance, as long as Christianity is recognised in some form(like a prayer at the beginning of a Legislature's day) as the "default" main faith.

6. Researchers find 6,000-year-old fossil evidence

Comment #22444 by Zelgadis on February 17, 2007 at 4:52 pm

Yeah... bit of a slow news day, isn't it? :P by the way, I didn't really think the title was misleading but it did make me read it a couple more times before I clicked on it, just to prepare myself in case it was something idiotic.

Now, on the subject of the article... I don't know, I just can't make myself feel too excited about fossilised chili pepper particles, I mean, I'm a geek but even I have limits. n_n

I did enjoy reading it though, due to the fact that everyone started doing schtick.(my favourite: god got chili-smoked hehe).

Saludos from México too. ^-^

7. The Bright Revolution

I'm not surprised that there are people who keep throwing that tired, idiotic argument of "oh my, that's so arrogant"(as opposed to that lovely "I'm an atheist so f**k you"), what does surprise me, and at the same time saddens me, is that it comes from other atheists.

If you don't like the harmless little moniker, then by all means don't use it, a simple "nah, I don't like it" would be sufficient, but apparently you also have to launch ridiculous attacks at those who find it adequate and are trying to be united(while keeping our many differences) against those who regard us as amoral and wish to deny us our rights.

Then again, it's not the first time I've encountered hate among my own kind, since I'm gay... oh, sorry, I wouldn't want to offend you by implying that I'm very happy and heterosexuals are all sad, you see, "gay" is a noun and I like it better than "homosexual" so I use it.

This whole argument is as nonsensical as the gay people who hate bisexuals because "they should pick one side"(and yes, it's not a joke, these people exist), or the ones who hate people who aren't "straight-acting" or those who hate transexuals, etc. As if there aren't enough people who despise us already.

So I'll happily use "Bright" and "secular humanist" or "naturalist" too. "Atheist" is not only negative, it's an incredibly useless word because everyone, no matter how religious, is an atheist about hundreds of gods, and they're all as real as the Judeo-Christian sky fairy. I'm not going to give it the privilege of being the default position for human beings to believe in it, I will not center my identity on denying it and I refuse to live my life calling myself that meaningless word. My beliefs are atheistic because I don't believe in deities, and that's that.

I thank you for reading through my rather long post and I hope that the tone of it isn't misconstrued as being angry, but merely disappointed. My warmest wishes for everyone.

8. Richard Dawkins' Report Card

Comment #17059 by Zelgadis on January 10, 2007 at 2:05 pm

At first I felt it was a cheap attempt to make fun of famous people, but after, I couldn't help smiling at the thought of a tiny Richard Dawkins getting a little carried away with his pen.

I'll give the author the benefit of the doubt and believe it wasn't her intention to mock, but to show that we're all human and even the great are not immune to small faults like that.

Maybe when my kid is scolded for colouring a sheep purple "because purple is a better colour" or gazing at a butterfly or the trees outside instead of paying attention in class, I'll think about that boy who became a renowned scientist, inkyness and all. n_n
