1. Daniel Dennett Debates Dinesh D'Souza

Comment #92982 by TomKatses on December 1, 2007 at 9:28 pm

In my opinion D'Souza reminds me of Rush Limbaugh.

1. He uses a lot of psychological projection.
2. He never answers the hard question.
3. He credits his cause (position)for good things that it is not responsible for.
4. If I thought he really believed everything he said, he would scare me.
5. He is doing for the money.

2. The Case for Teaching The Bible

I think those in favor of teaching the Bible are missing a fine point. How much of the Bible will be taught? I don't believe a single class could teach the whole thing, and I am afraid it would be "cherry picked". The items mentioned by davyB would probably not be addressed. I know because my whole Catholic upbringing was one big cherry pick, and I took eight years of religion classes. It was not until I did my own research did I realized how immoral the Bible was.

3. Richard Dawkins and the dangerous delusion of religion

"(Incidentally, he deals with Christianity in the US too, although we can't do much about that. Interestingly there have been some real successes there for brave people who are prepared to fight against Biblical teaching in schools. We are having less success here on this front.) "

Count me as one of Richard's US successes. His one line of being an atheist and going "one god further" was the straw that broke the camels back for me after being a god fearer for 50 years.
