1. All aboard the atheist bus campaign

Comment #269738 by Planeswalker on October 23, 2008 at 9:24 am

Hmm, I like it. Not very offensive, but nice, simple, a bit funny and should get the message through.

But I wonder if there are religious bus drivers who refuse to drive with the campaign slogans? I can almost imagine the headlines:

"AGGRESSIVE ATHEISTS CAUSE TRAFFIC CHAOS"

2. Richard Dawkins Lecture at UC Berkeley

Comment #236432 by Planeswalker on August 24, 2008 at 3:35 pm

Watching this lecture should be mandatory for every breathing creature in the whole wide world.

4. Bad Faith Awards: Vote for the winner now

Comment #94981 by Planeswalker on December 7, 2007 at 5:21 am

God must know what the hell poor Dawkins is doing on that list...

5. The Flea Circus Invites a Newcomer!

Comment #60238 by Planeswalker on August 1, 2007 at 11:09 am

Hey, the website finally got the right cover for "The Dawkins Letters"! Now David Robertson must be happy :)

6. All the mistakes of the godly are merely metaphor

Comment #58218 by Planeswalker on July 24, 2007 at 3:46 am

Excuse me, but is Kleiman some kind of sheep? Apparently, he finds the smartest persons, maybe the ones with the highest IQs, and automatically presumes that what they believe is the right thing.
If Newton thought hard about an ideology and supported it, so would Kleiman.
If Socrates decided to jump off a cliff (after having thought hard about it, of course) so would Kleiman.

Besides, as far as I'm concerned, these persons he mentioned aren't alive anymore. Our societies have changed and our knowledge have increased. Maybe if they were alive today, they wouldn't be so fond of belief.

It's not a secret that I would probably prefer to trus as smart person. And I'm and also sure that "Dawkins and Co." are smart, hard thinkers. Nevertheless, you don't really have to be smart to realize what's true and what's not true. I'm sure that there are atheist out there who may never have got an education, who may greatly lack skills in reading, writing, math, psychics and so on, but still have "thought hard about religion" and "dismissed it as nonsense".

9. I'm Sure God is Scared

Comment #44685 by Planeswalker on May 25, 2007 at 7:18 am

You know how atheists are. Grammy or Grampy or Fluffy dies, or Sister Mary hits them one too many times with the steel ruler, and God gains a lifelong enemy.

Please...

10. Atheists: Get off of our country!

Comment #44668 by Planeswalker on May 25, 2007 at 6:55 am

I guess that's just another reason for you Americans to speak up.

12. Those fanatical atheists

Comment #38077 by Planeswalker on May 6, 2007 at 11:18 pm

When I read the headline I was like "Aw, not again..."
But I got surprized.

13. Believe in God Spray

Comment #36210 by Planeswalker on April 30, 2007 at 1:51 pm

I already ordered my own. Seriosly, how could anyone possibly get through the day without one of these?

14. A Brief History of Disbelief

Comment #35702 by Planeswalker on April 28, 2007 at 12:16 pm

Is Joan Konner's The Atheist's Bible for or against atheism?

15. Study: Religion is Good for Kids

Comment #34905 by Planeswalker on April 25, 2007 at 2:27 pm

At least for the most religious parents, "getting their kids into heaven is more important than getting their kids into Harvard," Wilcox said.

You got to be kidding, right?

16. The God Debate

Comment #29073 by Planeswalker on April 1, 2007 at 1:55 pm

Rick is using a lot of good ol' religious arguments:

The argument for the complex beauty of the world
The argument for answered prayer
The argument for the evilness of atheism (Stalin, Mao...)
The argument for morality without god
The argument for atheism as a faith
The argument for democracy (96% believers)
The argument for Pascal's Wager

...and many others... None of them really impresses me.

17. 'The Evolution of Homer' Intro

Comment #28815 by Planeswalker on March 31, 2007 at 4:01 am

Almost exactly Fat Boy Slim's "Right Here, Right Now" video.

Nice. I just understand why it starts by saying "For 350 billion years ago..." That seems a little too long ago?

18. 'The Evolution of Homer' Intro

Comment #28753 by Planeswalker on March 30, 2007 at 4:07 pm

Yay, The Simpsons!

Wish it had been Rev. Lovejoy or Ned instead of Moe.

That would have been pretty evil >:D

20. The Fifth Flea!

Comment #28203 by Planeswalker on March 28, 2007 at 10:29 am

Wow, those guys are really serious about it! Richard has a lot of homework and reading to do :P

But I thought the cover David Robertson's book had changed/been corrected?

21. Hell is real and eternal: Pope

Comment #28009 by Planeswalker on March 27, 2007 at 3:05 pm

Of course I'll believe in Hell when the Pope says it exist! Seriously, has the Pope ever been wrong about anything? I don't think he has! He is obviously the most reliable and researching source of information you can possible get. How is Dawkins going to argue with this?!

23. Debate between Alister McGrath and Peter Atkins

Comment #27212 by Planeswalker on March 23, 2007 at 2:52 pm

Interesting... Atkins seems to make some interesting points.

For those of you who complain about the audio: give it a chance. DavyB is right that it gets better.

26. Kissing Hank's Ass

Good one, Vadjong.

And yes, the film is pretty cool.

27. British Book Awards shortlists 2007

Comment #24756 by Planeswalker on March 8, 2007 at 10:41 am

I voted for Dawkins and his book. I must admit that I haven't quite read TGD yet, but what the hell, it has Richard's name on it...

Riley: I didn't have a problem with not voting on some of the other categories?

29. Was there ever dog that praised his fleas?

Comment #24120 by Planeswalker on March 4, 2007 at 11:14 pm

Looks like the believers are fighting back. But I guess it's fine. Good that Richard's book gets some attention.

Maybe Professor Dawkins should do like Sam Harris and make a response to his critics. He could call the book "The Delusions of McGrath, Robertson and Wilson" or maybe "Letter to McGrath, Robertson and Wilson."

30. Atheists come in last

Comment #22830 by Planeswalker on February 23, 2007 at 1:40 pm

goldmineguttd: Ah, okay. I just thought I'd heard he was a Muslim... But that must have been someone else who were considering running for president or something.

31. Atheists come in last

Comment #22823 by Planeswalker on February 23, 2007 at 4:09 pm

Isn't Obama a Muslim? Then wouldn't it benefit him more to say that he is Christian?

By the way, it could be pretty cool to see some religious politician getting elected as president, and when he have his first speech, he says "Hah! I was bluffing! I'm actually an Atheist! And there's nothing you can do about it!"
