1. Science and Religion BOTH make faith claims

Comment #84929 by killer_rabbit79 on November 4, 2007 at 9:20 am

Yes there is a small amount of faith required to believe in the scientific method but it is nothing compared to the amount of faith required to believe in a religion. Since most of science is based on evidence, there is not enough faith involved for it to even be worth mentioning.

Also, prettygoodformonkeys, the reason measuring by faith will not fill your cup is because you don't have anything to fill it with, not because your cup is infinitely huge, jerk. Also, if by magic, you mean Photoshop than I agree completely. Maybe you should get a reality check or something.

2. The US is a Christian Nation

Comment #84926 by killer_rabbit79 on November 4, 2007 at 8:26 am

I don't like it, but the US is a Christian nation. It may have a free religion policy but the majority of people are Christians and the Christians have all the power. How many Hindus or Buddhists or Muslims have you seen in the senate or in congress? How many have you seen hosting Fox News? What's Uncle Sam's religion? That's all there is to it.

3. What's the evolutionary advantage of offering your place to an old woman on a bus?

Comment #84925 by killer_rabbit79 on November 4, 2007 at 8:18 am

Nice people are accepted by society. People who are accepted by society are liked by the general public. People who are liked by the general public have a higher chance of being able to receive help if they need it. Therefore, people who are nice will receive help when they need it which increases their chance of survival during a crisis.

If one survives, they can procreate. If they can procreate, they can pass on their genes. Therefore, nice people can pass on their genes.

5. The Transcendental Argument for God

Comment #84923 by killer_rabbit79 on November 4, 2007 at 8:05 am

Even if the argument that rational thought is wrong because the universe is irrational is true, it doesn't mean a god exists so I really don't care.

6. If you don't accept the supernatural, you obviously think life is depressing, meaningless and cold

Comment #84921 by killer_rabbit79 on November 4, 2007 at 8:02 am

Sometimes I get asked how I can appreciate life if I don't think God gave it to me. I just say I appreciate the random chance of my conception over the other germ cells that I had to compete with. It's that simple.

7. Why Children Love Their Security Blankets

Comment #25293 by killer_rabbit79 on March 11, 2007 at 6:33 pm

This emotion seems kinda stupid to have but I think it is necessary because it's probably the same feeling that tells us who our mothers and fathers are and which people at school or work are our friends. Neurologists have categorized this type of behavior in the amygdela (might be mispelled) which is used to determine how we emotionally respond to stimuli. It can be used to emotionally identify both individual organisms (eg. mother, father, pet) and objects.

It's not a bad thing to have but it is misused when we give children security blankets or don't wear murderer's jewelery.

I love studies like this.

8. Guinness 'Evolution' Ad

They should've had an evolutionary consultant but it was still funny.

9. Blame Abraham

Comment #25290 by killer_rabbit79 on March 11, 2007 at 6:06 pm

Kristian Z,

It doesn't matter that they don't exist, Yaweh and Allah are the same god because the Jews and Muslims both believe that they are decendants of Abraham and are worshipors of Abraham's God. Gods are ideas and Jews and Muslims have the same idea about their respective gods which makes their gods identical. The difference lies in what they think of their god and the rituals they use to worship him. That is why they are two different religions but they are still both based on Abraham's god which makes Yaweh and Allah identical and equally bogus.

I blame Abraham as well. Why couldn't he have stayed a pegan like the other Mesopotamians.

10. Native American populations share gene signature

12. Massachusetts Atheists?

Comment #20529 by killer_rabbit79 on February 3, 2007 at 7:45 pm

Massachusetts is stupid. Did anyone hear about the bomb scare there? The entire city of Boston was shut down so the police and national security could retrieve a terrorist WMD that turned out to just be an LED sign that was a part of Adult Swim's guerilla advertising campaign for their popular show Aqua Teen Hungerforce. These signs were put up in nine other major American Cities including New York and Chicago and none of these cities had this problem. The advertisers have terrorist charges and a charge for making the mayor of Boston mad (which is chargable for imprissonment). This is just the icing on the cake of stupidity.

13. Atheists in Jail

Comment #20526 by killer_rabbit79 on February 3, 2007 at 7:11 pm

I know the only reason I'm not relentlessly murdering anything in sight is because I live in Canada and therefore don't know where to buy a gun. They make it so damn hard. Also, I'm too lazy to work out so I am in no shape to strangle people with my bare hands. What's an atheist to do? I guess I'll have to be a good boy for now.

Seriously though, I saw a video on youtube that said 75% of Americans are Christian and 75% of American prisoners are Christian and 12% of Americans were atheist (that includes agnostics and humanists) and 0.2% of American prisoners are atheist. If that's true then we must be morally superior in general to Christians. Maybe because morally superior people tend to become atheists rather than morally inferior people who will tend to stay theists.

14. Evolution Debate - Pigliucci vs Hovind

Comment #20525 by killer_rabbit79 on February 3, 2007 at 6:56 pm

I thought Hovind was a poor sport about the entire thing. When prompted for believable evidence he asked for intelligent data to be formed from chaos and Pigliucci said a scientist created amino acids in a lab with minerals and he said that was creation because a creator put the pieces together. He is a big hypocrit.

I find that many hardcore theists are like that too and you can never say anything to get to them because they always turn to their all powerful god that can do anything.

I just want to say now that I don't believe in time. Time is just an assumption made by out brains to based pn the speed of something moving from point A to point B (a distance), t=d/v. The idea of a product of our imagination being considered a god is so predictible for a theist.

15. Violent video games leave teenagers emotionally aroused

Comment #19762 by killer_rabbit79 on January 29, 2007 at 8:18 pm

This study was obviously made to oppose violent videogames. The article does not state which games were used and even though that's product placement, it is important information because puzzle games, which are stimulating while not violent, will always cause frontal stimulation because frontal stimulation is necessary for the game. Also, the test did not show the normal cognitive levels of the subjects. The subjects dhould have all been made to play the violent game one one day and the non-violent game on another day and the difference in cognitive activity would give a much better idea of the stimulation caused by the games without biasing the subjects' brains. These tests are inaccurate and should be ignored.
