1. Disney daughter calls Muslim Mickey evil

"Would someone explain to me why Walt Disney is considered evil?"
Disney keeps people comatosed with cute cuddly creatures, while they take your money and freedom. I'm still thinking it over, so I'll just throw words at you; capitalist dictatorship, police state, illuminati, corruption, globalisation.

"What we're dealing with here is pure evil and you can't ignore that"
That's funny, I've always conciderd Disney to be evil. Anyway, these kids aren't taught to be evil, they're taught to be good, problem is that their definition of good differs very much from ours. That's religion for ya.
3. The New Atheists loathe religion far too much to plausibly challenge it
Comment #38160 by Caesar Best on May 7, 2007 at 6:27 am
"In recent years, research has thrown up some remarkable benefits - the faithful live longer, recover from surgery quicker, are happier, less prone to mental illness and so the list goes on. If religion declines, what gaps does it leave in the functioning of individuals and social groups?"
Screw that! Firstly I seriously question these findings, but if that was true, I'd still rather live a short life in freedom than a long one in the prison of religion.
"but one suspects that they are going to do very little to challenge the appeal of a phenomenon they loathe too much to understand."
Oowh, I understand. Atheism comes from understanding, not ignorance.

Amazing to see how RD has evolved as a public speaker in the last couple of years, that clip was filled with a lot of words I and many like me don't comprehend. By turning down the complexity of his idiom he has reached a bigger audience and made his message easier to listen to. Also I haven't heard him talk about the IQ elite in recent pieces, which is very clever too, since it only portrais atheism as being too far up it's own ass. Now I know that many of the 1337 people present here will disagree, but I'd like to applaud RD for trying and succeeding to win a bigger audience.

This site is great, but one of the things I notice is that some people take everything so damn serious. That more than anything will put folks off of atheism, me thinks. Lighten up 'brethren', you'll feel better.

I just kept looking at the eye-flirting going on. That guy was totally up for it, but she just wanted to flirt for a bit, so funny.
Oh and BTW, where can I get an attractive immune system, preferably bottled?

@iwentdowntotheriver
It would seem I'm not getting through to you, as I tried to explain before I don't feel the need to indulge myself in material which is ultimatly based on irrationality (faith etc.) since I try to let 'RATIONALLITY' be my guide. Discounting the irrational doesn't make you irrational, discounting the rational does.

@ iwentdowntotheriver,
"Caesar Best (above) is by no means unique in posting negative comments on things they have not even read. (His/her post implys that he/she has not in fact read the book in question, if they have, then I offer them a full apology.)"
No apology needed, the only way I'll get to know the book is if it's being read to me by five topless girls. In all honesty I don't see the need to read it, I have never read the Koran either, but I still get the gist of it. In my experience anything meant to promote theism or discredit atheism and atheist views is based on a arguments from a theistic standpoint. I've been listening to religious arguments all my life and I should hope I'm up to speed on the whole pro-religion side of things. Especially since they fail to present any new stuff, just the same stuff in a different package over and over again.
Furthermore I don't have the time, patience and perhaps lack the intelligence to play cute little sociotheological mindgames, it has taken me over 20 years and a hell of a headache to arrive at atheism and unless someone brings something fresh and scientific to the table I'm gonna stick with it for the time being IF you don't mind.

Alternative viewpoints indeed...
Just another big book of bla bla designed to make sure people don't all at once stop paying their church contribution (or something to that effect).
I'm pretty sure he hasn't written anything we haven't all heard before. Also I can't seem to understand how people like that can warp their minds in such a way that they can still believe the unbelievable, pisses me off.

That wasn't terribly upsetting, about as objective as an American news item about atheism can be. Guess it'll have to do for now.

These people are starting to wear me out, they choose religion over science, but still they try to use science (and wrongly so) to try and prove their point. Personally I respect the hardcore, stubborn bible thumpers more than that type of nutjob. Am I the only one that got a headache from reading his fucking bullshit?

That guy is a total cunt! He keeps dancing around the issues like a bitch and takes stuff out of context all the time. Is he really such a tard or did he have to practice. Sounds to me like has a secret boner for RD or something. Excuse the language, but it's all Alister is gonna get from me.

Dunno Geoff, guess the biggest problem with the bible is the way it's totally open to interpretation. Plus, might have to do with the version of the bible, the content and wording can really differ from version to version and language to language.
Then again, I agree, if the writer just made stuff up it wouldn't help the cause.

In the last comment I described myself as being agnostic, since then I've done research like a maniac and was able to conclude that the excistence of 'god' is so highly questionable that it's reasonable to assume he doesn't excist. Now I concider myself to be an atheist, thank you Richard for setting me free from religion!
@Martin
Dawkins is very specific about his definition of god, he states it as a supernatural being as defined in the bible (etc). The who, where and what is totally irrelevant since there is no evidence even remotely indicating the excistence of such a being. Answering those questions would result in nothing but wild guessing.
Further more you seem to underestimate science, it is not based on 'supposition', it's based on logic, reason and let us not forget facts.
I think I understand what you're trying to say, but you're mistaking science for theology and making stuff up. http://www.sciencemadesimple.com/science-definition.html

Since a couple of years I've been agnostic and Richard Dawkins is my new hero! He's right to have a certain aura of smugness, since he is able to debate any religious fanatic into the ground. He has convinced me of the fact that religion does not deserve our respect since it's obselete, antiquated, backwards and inherently damaging to humanity. Of course he would never put it like that, but I would. I feel that his 'arrogance' is in perfect balance with the commonly accepted arrogance true believers display at all times.
Go Dawkins!
