I was in a Barnes & Nobles bookstore in the US recently. Wandering around, I noticed a lot of shelves of Christian Inspirational books. Then I finally found the science section(bio, chem, physics, astronomy). I decided to count the shelves: Christian 40+, Science 14. I was appalled. Maybe most science readers are like me though and mostly use the library?
2. Is there an Artificial God?

Is he saying that the dragon in the room, God, and money are artificial constructs created by man(sorry Canadians)to serve a purpose? If so, I quite agree. I may be a defacto atheist, but if religion serves those in need, why take their placebo away? (As long as their placebo doesn't hurt anyone else. Unfortunately a lot of those placebos have been very harmful!)

Shouldn't we recognize that religion for many has a palliative placebo effect? I know religion is "a sugar pill" so it can't help me, but I don't think I should keep it from helping others.

I was positively surprised that the three front runners actually had the courage to state that they do believe in evolution, qualified or not. Remember the vast majority of the Republican base, those who vote in the primary, do NOT believe in evolution. I would not vote for any of these candidates for other reasons, however.

It is so sad that not only is fundamentalist religion being taught in a public school, but that the boy who exposed it is criticized and treated as a pariah. Not only is the theory of evolution poorly taught in most American public schools, but apparently the constitutional separation of church and state is also under attack.
