2. A Tortoise May Be Bred Back Into Being

Comment #254016 by Keinen_Gott on September 25, 2008 at 6:08 am

"Depends what species of tortoise It is."
This particular species doesn't reach sexual maturity until about the age of 40.

"First we had physicists flicking a very expensive switch in their hunt for the God particle (although surely this is doomed to failure if they don't believe He exists)."

I don't like that sentence. is it supposed to be funny? I know they are talking about the "Higgs Boson" but... IDK I just think it was stupid. blah

"I am not retarded or stupid. Such an ad hominem is most offensive."
I don't think it is an ad hominem attack seeings how the evidence for your stupidity resides in your comments. However, I may be wrong as to the meaning of ad hominem. Whatever. Good day.

@InfuriatedSciTeacher

Yes, you are completely right. I just woke up about half an hour ago. And I did not say that they were the only two explanations, just the only 2 that came to my mind. Also, when I said dried up I wasn't picturing a desert. I was picturing some plants, animals, and a few ponds or so. Once more, just woke up. Haven't even had any caffeine yet. :(
Also, sorry for being so apologetic. I just felt a little stupid after realizing what I did write. I was hoping nobody would call me out :( lol

Comment #238642 by Keinen_Gott on August 28, 2008 at 12:38 pm

@thewhitepearl

Well, just because they were found in the same area does not mean that they died all at the same time.
I can think of only two explanations.

1. Maybe the birds were eaten by another animal at that time and then "disposed" of.
2. Maybe the birds died a bit later on when the sea was either shallow, or when the sea was dried up completely.

7. Atheism could be science's contribution to religion

Comment #238630 by Keinen_Gott on August 28, 2008 at 12:30 pm

For that matter, how can "not-reality" exist in reality? It's Mind boggling. All that isn't existing in all that is.

8. Atheism could be science's contribution to religion

Comment #238623 by Keinen_Gott on August 28, 2008 at 12:24 pm

"In reality, the only contribution that science can make to the ideas of religion is atheism."

Well, it is a good thing that the religious believe that there is a such thing as not-reality. They will survive after all.

"Grow a pair" is the proper phrase to use in this situation, yes?

Comment #238614 by Keinen_Gott on August 28, 2008 at 12:16 pm

@thewhitepearl

Why would that puzzle you? Apparently the dig site was once covered with water which explains the fish bones. The only way I could see it being a bit puzzling is if all of the animals there died at the same time. Which would be very odd indeed. Unless of course the birds and the fish were eaten by that mosasaur.

11. The New Atheist Movement

Comment #123702 by Keinen_Gott on February 7, 2008 at 2:19 pm

Paul J Voss said, "poinient", what is that? Did he mean poignant? And if not what does that word mean?
ANyways, Of course creationists should not be admitted into a college level biology course. There would be no science being done.
"Why did God make the eye", says the student.
"Professor" replies," So we can see"
"End of lecture, come back tomorrow and learn why he created the ear".

Spoiler alert: So we can hear.

I would find it fun if my schol taught ID, only for a couple days though, then I would get bored. It would be quite fun to contradict everything a teacher says on the subject; I would also have fun asking for proof of the teacher's claims. By the way, where would you go to get a Masters degree in the ID theory, or will any priest or christian suffice?

Comment #42442 by Keinen_Gott on May 18, 2007 at 7:53 am

Noah must have had an ark the size of california(Maybe bigger) to fit all the species of animals on this planet. He would need many aquariams to keep the predators away from the prey, and also much food for all of them to eat.

response to steveroot: I do think he would have to collect all the life in the ocean because if the flood was actually as great as the bible said, as in it covered mountains, I believe the saltwater organisms would die because the salt concentration in the water would be greatly reduced.Have you ever had to care for saltwater fish? It is a bitch to keep the salt concentration between certain levels.

19. The New Atheists loathe religion far too much to plausibly challenge it

Comment #38194 by Keinen_Gott on May 7, 2007 at 7:46 am

Let the 21st be the century of a new enlightenment; the century we all, as a race, realised that we must get rid of all forms of religious dogma if we are to survive each other. If this is not so we all will surely die in some form of a religious war or genocide. I can see in the not so distant future a war called WW3(christianity vs Islam). Let us all hope that this is not so.

"For shame! Many of you are cheating. The last 25 years means 1982 and later. "Cosmos," "The Selfish Gene," The Feynman Lectures," "The Mismeasure Of Man," "Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas," "1984," & "Catch 22," to name just a few, were all published before the cut-off date."

well, they made new editions for those books. That must count; my copy of the selfish Gene is 1989 edition.

If I had to pick one book out of all that were mentioned and that I have mentioned, I would have to pick the book that changed my life and that is "A Brief History of Time" by Stephen Hawking. I read that book when I was 14 and after 14 years of going to church every sunday and wednesday I broke away and ended up disowned by my southern baptist family. I now live with no ties to my real family and I am only 17. I've read A Brief History of Time around 5 times and it is the best book ever.

23. Atheism isn't the final word

Comment #32771 by Keinen_Gott on April 18, 2007 at 8:20 am

Comment #32640 by PeterK on April 17, 2007 at 8:42 pm
I recently saw a late night telethon of a man disputing that there "ain't" no such thing as atheists. His rationalization behind this arbitrary statement was that a human being can only know a fraction of knowledge in the universe abot 1% and he states that in that other 99% there could be proof of God's existence. So there is no such thing as atheists we are all agnostics.

I wanted to cry.

I do not see how you people can dispute the footprints! They are all around us. I can probably bet that in about 3 out of every 4 homes in America there is a "Footprint" poster. Hell, there is even one in my house and I'm an atheist.

27. Top Scientists Warn of Water Shortages and Disease Linked to Global Warming

Comment #25457 by Keinen_Gott on March 13, 2007 at 8:10 am

Global Warming has been a naturally occuring phenomenon forever in Earths history, but now that an animal with mild intelligence(us) has evolved on this Earth it has been sped up and I for one think that the issue is not addressed enough. I think that the world should follow China's example and limit 1 child per family, it may be a little rash, but i think that the population should be controlled. But, as long as the religions dominate this planet they will continue to follow their "holy" book and turn women into baby making machines until they cant make anymore. I myself am very optomistic of the "religious" future and think after a little time and more science education in schools the most popular "yo mama" joke will be that your mama is so old she still believes in God. As for the futures environment I just hope it wont be to late to make a drastic change of direction. I hope the paradigm happens soon.

"There is absolutly nothing to worry about," says the christians. I saw a report yesterday about how we should continue what we are doing and not worry about a thing because God "says" in the Bible that he will keep the world in good shape until the coming of Jesus so I geuss Jesus isn't long from coming now. Should be here any minute.......... any minute now.......... well whatever. Anyway the moral is that we don't have to worry, we can continue destroying wildlife habitats and burning every ounce of natural resources on this planet because God won't let the world go to "hell". At least not until Jesus(he) comes.

"Enjoy your day, and remember, if you are Mormon...and you DON'T hate yourself...something is wrong."

You must hate yourself and everyone you love.

Luke 14:26 Jesus says,"If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters-yes even his own life-he can not be my deciple."

I did enjoy the bit about rewriting the bible. I bet that people will follow these new ideas and throw out the old ones. How can one throw out or disprove one part of the bible without it ruining the credibility of the entire thing.
