Religions encourage geo- and anthropocentric worldviews; i.e. they encourage the view that humans are pre-eminent creatures, basically allowed to rule the earth. This can and probably will be disastrous for the biosphere, as the delusions of the religious render the environment and the lives of other animals completely secondary to humanity.

P.S. I'm thinking in particular of the dominant, monotheistic religions.
