1. A hole lot of nothing found by astronomers

Comment #66018 by Patchell on August 27, 2007 at 10:17 pm

You all are still wrong. Its a highly advanced civilization that is utilizing every small bit of energy for its own use. Class 3.5 to 4 civilization that has massive energy collection resources, thats why we can't see anything. Can anyone tell me this isn't what we would detect if there was a class 4 civilization there?

This has to be a type III or maybe IV civilization on the Kardashev scale. Perhaps the galaxies are surrounded by large Dyson sphere's.

3. Debate between Christopher Hitchens and Edd Doerr

Moderators should be seen and rarely heard. They should control the time frame of the arguments, not contribute to the argument itself.

Hooray Captain Morality to the rescue!!! David "Douchebag" Robertson!!!

I think you have yourself a contradiction here Mr Douchebag. You say you don't want these videos published because the Phelps gang thrives on publicity. I don't buy that. To me this seems like a censorship issue, where you don't want to admit the ugly truth that your holy books say what they actually say.

My assertion is this: You know your beloved holy book is a piece of moral hogwash, so you want to sweep under the rug groups that actually follow the scripture. You fear that knowledge of such a group would hurt your own church by demonstrably pointing out the ridiculous statements in the bible.

This same conflict is what draws you into conflict with atheists such as Dawkins, except, they recognize what your holy book really is; a holey sham.

Finally, the contradiction I see is your unwilling attitude to expose such charlatans even though you damn well know that such exposure lessens their impact, that those Ideas can not survive the air of publicity. Instead you recognize that while you disagree with the Phelps gang on many points, if critical analysis is applied to one, the other will surely suffer as well.

It is you who should be ashamed David, not Dr Dawkins. Shame on you that you would allow such groups to be swept under the rug so you can keep your own selfish (and demonstrably untrue) beliefs about the world from being tread upon.

Also how dare you compare Dawkins to a Nazi!! Exposing a group for their intolerant 6th century behaviours is good journalism, not propaganda.

Your colourful characterizations are nothing but a giant red herring, your insidious methods of advertising your own book are morally bankrupt, and your double think is very well executed. Perhaps in your church pseudo intellectualism is appreciated, but it is certainly not well received amongst reasonable people.

5. The Future Forum Presents: Christopher Hitchens and Marvin Olasky

Olasky is just using emotional appeals like a politician, bringing up personal stories etc. What a douche bag.

I think I can honestly say this Wee Flea character is being a bit of a douche bag. There is no shame in promoting your book on here, but to do it without mentioning your authorship is dishonest. Then you go on to insult those who disagree with you. What a fine example of class you are!

7. 'Einstein - His Life and Universe'

Comment #44011 by Patchell on May 23, 2007 at 7:19 am

This guy was on the Colbert report not that long ago. He used the religion without science is blind and science without religion is lame quote to describe Einsteins feelings about God and religion.

8. Lou Dobbs Interviews Christopher Hitchens

Comment #37457 by Patchell on May 4, 2007 at 1:51 pm

Dobbs seems to be an old school conservative republican, like the ones before Ronald Regan and the neo-cons hijacked the party.

I was impressed when Dobbs was on Bill Maher last year and made more sense then any other person on the show. Bravo Lou!!

9. Christians and Atheists to Debate Existence of God in First-Ever 'NIGHTLINE FACE OFF'

Comment #37339 by Patchell on May 4, 2007 at 6:09 am

The way of the master is one of the best comedy shows on TV. I watch it all the time. I believe you can use many of their own arguments against them. One specifically occurs when Comfort is wandering the streets asking questions. Often he is confronted with your typical Christian apologist who believes if you are a good person you will go into heaven. His response is to invoke the graven images and no god before Yahweh commandments, and tell the person they are going to hell because they have personalized a god to fit their own needs.

So if C&C argue for the universal non caring God, then the RRS can nail them for "personalizing their own god" and going against their own commandments. So by there own argument they are going to hell!!

10. Medical 'Miracles' Not Supported by Evidence

greatness/Daniel

I think I had the exact same conversation with one of my friends who was in love with the "What the Bleep do we Know" film. I decided, like you, to watch the film myself only to be greatly disappointed. Many of the claims made in the film are made by "scientists" who work for the Ramtha School of enlightenment http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramtha and feel free to read my excellent (cheap plug) uncyclopedia article which I was inspired to write after finding out about Ramtha. http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Ramtha

Anyways, my friend just couldn't get his head around the fact Ramtha is a 35,000 year old Lemurian warrior being channeled by J.Z. Knight, or that all the "scientists" in the film were B.S. In our last conversation he couldn't understand why I would attack the film and how I could quote people like Dawkins, Harris, Dennet, etc and I wouldn't except the science of What the Bleep. I told him to pull his head out of his ass and do some research on the subject before he accepts anything as truth. And guess what!?!?!? He refused! "Why should I have to do any research, you always tell me to look it up and do research. I already have, I have seen the film and that's enough." This from a guy (who like your friend Daniel) said he was open minded to everything. Yeah right... open to mystical pseudo scientific B.S., not to anything that can be backed up with evidence and facts.

Anyways... rant over. You're not the only one who's had to put up with the ignorance of what the bleep Daniel. These idiots are all over the place.

I was watching Olbermann tonight, and I nearly shit my pants when that commercial came on. Excellent work!

14. Why there are almost no genuine atheists

After all, the human race has existed for an eye-blink of cosmological time and will certainly cease to exist in another eye-blink or two.

And if you keep electing religious nutbars, you will ensure this to be true.
