i had a look at the website like someone suggested,
"Jihad: It covers virtually all manner of crime with the shield of piety by blessing massacre, plunder, enslavement and treachery if these are judged necessary in the cause of Allah. There is nothing like it in Christian civilization"
hahaha, i thought they were christians, havent they read the bible?
2. Medicine without Evolution Make Sense?

I've not read all the comments on here but some of them seem to bang on a lot about medicine turning back to witch doctors etc etc.
I'm a medical student at the moment. i happen to find evolution a very interesting subject and i personally would love to hear more about it in lectures but i can totally understand why its not there. there is such a huge volume of information to absorb that is directly needed for a day to day job as a doctor that there isn't space for it in the curriculum. just about all of us did A level biology, so we know about evolution. if we agree with it, great, those in my year that don't - well one lecture isnt going to change their minds.

medical question for anyone that could tell me. what do you use X-rays for when following parkinsons? especially a big box worth of them. they surely can't tell you much about the limbic system which is where i thought the problem was?

It keeps coming up everywhere that "what god is" has changed a lot nowadays and isnt a beard in the sky anymore but no one seems to say why. the implication is that religious leaders claim to have a better understanding of god now.
But surely its only because people have started saying, hang on thats a silly idea because...? seems like theyre onyl changing what god is because theyre on the back foot not because of independant enlightment?

one thing that struck me about Dawkins argument about religious art etc is that you could easily add a comparison on that i think would make the point.
So peronsally for example, i'm a massive fan of Mark Rothko's paitings and can admire their beauty however i've absolutely no desire to suffer the deep depressive moods and dehabilition that eventually lead to his suicide.
I'm also a fan of the Keith Haring, and again i'd rather not have AIDS or see people all around me dying from drug abuse, which is what inspired him.
I think the same can be said for not being religious but still enjoying the quality afn power of religious-inspired arts.
