I agree with the posts regarding the Jesus historicity issue and that DR is not going there at this time. Just wondering if we could get some interviews from Earl Dougherty "Challenging the Verdict" a response to Lee Strobels "Case for Christ". Another interesting interview would be from Tom Harpur (former Anglican priest, professor and theologian) who wrote Pagan Christ in which he at long last reliquished belief in a literal Christ.

Earle Doherty (Jesus Puzzle) provided an in depth response to Strobels, termed "Challenging the Verdict" in the format of a withering cross examination of "Case for Christ - Strobels". If RD had know this he could have also issued up a cheerful challenge to her to read Doherty as well as Strobels for both points of view...

RD rightly broaches the issue regarding child abuse in this debate arguing that religion predates on impressionable young minds through fear mongering that terrifying consequences are in store for non believers. However, he also states that practicing a religion is acceptable providing separation of church and state principle applies or in other words "keep it to yourself". This raises the question of whether or not the state is morally obligated to intervene on behalf of children confronted with hell fire and the like religious doctrine. Has this issue been raised elsewhere in these threads?

Along the lines of the bishop sifting the bible for pillar items to justify his occupation, I do wonder myself at the origins of the wisdom found in some of the texts. What were the source writings/learnings of these biblical authors who did occasion to write inspiring text. I am not a believer by the way but I would like to be referred to perhaps some reading material of the origins of their moral writings that ended up in the bible.
