507. Palin: average isn't good enough

Comment #267051 by severalspeciesof on October 20, 2008 at 6:43 am

Looking good here, 'bout 500 posts since last here. Very commendable, and it even looks like much is still on topic...a plus!

Interesting to see Powell endorse Obama.

DP, what's your take on that, just curious is all (it's a cat thing you know)

Less than 2940 to go,

I must leave for now...

Tezcatilpoca & Gregg (Quetz too if he ever gets back here from that OTHER thread, geeshh!!),

Continue the mission...

Any and all other minions are clearly welcomed...

purrrr

Al,

After reading this (from the link Hawt4dawk posted):

Pit bulls are strong, energetic, agile, and powerful dogs. They are also very resourceful and driven. Determination is one of their most notable traits. Whatever they set out to do, they put their heart and soul into it...Whether it is escaping an inadequately fenced yard to go explore the neighborhood, destroying your new couch when left home alone, or climbing into your lap to shower you with kisses! They just don't give up easily.

A pitbull could be a good match... except for the kissing part ;-)

I want a pit bull (but I am flexible on this), but I live in an apartment. Does anyone have any advice for me?

Get a cat...

I'm getting a bit tired of the implication that Skylark is the only feline deity known to this thread. I happen to live with and worship the great queen Margret-Elizabeth Townsend (affectionately known as Maggie). She is of the snow-shoe Seal Point Siamese (very much like the top right photo found here ) pantheon and, on her behalf, I ask for equal observance from this group.

Equal observance is granted...

Equal only because Maggie invoked the reappearance of DP not three minutes after the mention of her (Edit: Maggie's) name. Well done!

The movie was god-awful. Bill Maher has succeeded in making the ONE thing MORE ridiculous and reprehensible than the Abrahamic religions.

Didn't even know that would be possible...

How so? Just curious...

Tezcatlipoca,

Shame on you... You've gotten Skylark's mind off of his mandate here, and is now starting to drool over that list of foods you mentioned.

So I'll bite...

2. Misspelling words... Oh wait, not that... since that would make daabbah et. al. human...

Can we find TWO?

So no need to question... ;-)

I am just thinking that "what are you afraid of?" may be an interesting addition to our armoury. We may even get an honest answer sometime!

Indeed! That very question, "what are you afraid of?" seems to be the fuel that religions use. This would then be a 'fight fire with fire' type of scenario.

Hmm that might seem like I was attacking you but I wasn't. I just meant it should be so obvious to everyone that it doesn't take a financial guru to bring it up.

Let's see: 15% of $40,000 = 6,000 per year in tax, leaving 34,000.

Hmmm: 25% of $200,000 = $50,000, leaving $150,000.

Fuck, who would you rather be. Let's bump your tax rate up to 30%. You still have $140,000 after tax. I hope I could live on that!

That's a great point. I remember that being put forward by some financial guru (can't remember her name) when someone asked worriedly about being in a higher tax bracket. Her response was "That means you are making MORE money. Isn't that a good thing?"

Watch the fox news video at the end in this link

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/15/who-won-the-last-debate-o_n_135066.html

Would this classify as dogma?

I would classify it as desperation, or "Palinspeak"

(As mentioned in the video) I thought it was an odd thing for Obama to say that McCain would be another 8 years of the Bush administration policies. 8 Years?

Hawt4dawk,

Glad to see you back for a bit, but just to let you know, if it wasn't for your lovable meerkat I'd be seriously depressed after viewing those links you gave. Keep up the good work, tis a noble thing you are doing...

Tonight's debate should prove interesting since McCain is dropping in the polls. It will be telling to see how his demeanor is. I believe it was those very things about McCain that brought Hitchens into the Obama camp

Don't know if anyone else spotted the background of the second book with the statement "Won't Anyone Stand Up For God?"

Seems like this god entity is pretty wimpy if he needs us peons to defend it. Whatever happened to it's worldwide flood making capacities, or turning people into salt pillars...

It's getting old, that god entity, we've got it on the ropes!!!

545. Why Evolution is True

Comment #264358 by severalspeciesof on October 14, 2008 at 9:05 am

Back in my god believing days I had acquired a book written by Duane Gish titled; "Evolution: The Fossils Say No!"

Being the 'fair minded' person I seem to be, had I come across a book with this title (Why Evolution is True) back then, I might have read it and stopped that foolish thinking earlier than I did.

So the Title works for me.

Hmmm,

The inability to distinguish between smearing; using language to inflame, and that of reality based language, i.e. replace "relationship" with "association" or "hanging out with" with "knows of" speaks of desperation. This bodes well for Obama.
