701. 'Telepathic' Genes Recognize Similarities In Each Other

Comment #116950 by righton on January 27, 2008 at 9:54 pm

Agree that telepathic is a horrible word. Journalists seem to use very bad words when describing new scientific breakthroughs. I wonder who is behind that?

I dont see any gap here. The similarity in bases probably creates favorable interactions.

Also, "one of the most respected scientists in the world", never heard of him. I guess respected is different from really good or well known, maybe he is a nice guy.

"Ken Miller one of the most respected sciencetists in the world and a devender of evolution is a devout catholic"

I think its pathetic to hold one scientist up as the example. Thats a pretty short list you got there. The point is that a very high percentage of scientists and educated people are nonbelievers.

Comment #116474 by righton on January 26, 2008 at 3:11 pm

This has to be pretty traumatizing to the twelve year old. Your parents are going to court over cutting skin off your penis? This would give me some kind of complex for the rest of my life. The last thing I would want at twelve would be my parents arguing about my penis.

"I enjoyed that did you notice that guy at the end nothing Richard sead sank in he ignored him i bet he wont go to the museum he don't care about the truth"

Your exactly right. This is how the arguments always go. If the discussion between RD and John would have continued, John would move on to another bad argument, RD would clearly explain why this is not true, John would still think his argument makes sense and move onto another one. Its like they dont even think about it. I have had this discussion a few times with different people. It ends with something like
"I know god exists because he helps me through things has changed my life. I wouldnt be the same person without god".
So after all there bad arguments are shown to be false they move to something that is not really an argument at all. It doesnt even register that all the arguments they brought up were shown to be false.

Thank you very much Cartomancer.

I dont know how good of an argument this would present. I was thinking more along the lines of something that says flat. I think that these quotes could be easily taken as expressions and not specificly saying that the world is flat.

I am just thinking that this might not be the best arguing point for showing falacies in the bible.

"The Old Testament notes that the earth is flat, and it has "four corners""

This is from an earlier post on this thread. I am just wondering if this is true and if anyone has a direct quote from old testament that says the world is flat?

"Venter is not God ... He's a long way from creating life,"

I disagree with, He's a long way from creating life. He is actually pretty close. Its good that people are doubting him, he thrives on that.

I cant believe anyone would use this as an oppourtunity to spread their hatred of gay people, he wasnt even gay! I hope these picketers ROT IN HELL

This book is basically about an emerging field, evolution of development. If you are in college you must take this course, if not read up on it. It takes evolution to another level. Charles Kimmel is a pioneer in this field, he teaches/researches at the University of Oregon.

As far as the rest of them, Clinton or Obama, i dont care as long as its not a republican.
